Tesla 2nd qtr numbers easily beat analyst expectations. MAGA soils diapers.

Tesla (TSLA) released its second quarter production and delivery numbers on Sunday, easily beating expectations as the effects of the electric-vehicle maker’s price cuts are boosting sales.

For the quarter, Tesla reported global production of 479,700 units with deliveries of 466,140. The delivery figure easily topped Wall Street consensus estimates of 448,599 units, as well as the prior quarter’s total of 422,875. Both production and delivery totals for the second quarter were all-time records for Tesla.

Analysts and investors focus more on delivery totals because they most closely track sales totals, which Tesla does not release. Breaking down delivery totals, Tesla delivered 446,915 Model 3 and Model Ys and 19,225 higher-priced Model S and Model X vehicles. The company also said 5% of its sales were subject to lease accounting.

Tesla’s second quarter delivery beat indicates the company’s price cuts are continuing to boost sales both in the US and abroad.

Do you like when the government picks winners and losers in business? Because I'm pretty sure that's the definition of Fascism.

Come 2035, 14 states now will not let you buy a new ICE vehicle. That's one example.

And?

There is nothing wrong with governments setting goals to cut out ICE vehicles or coal burning over the next few decades to try and stem global warming.

You have no right to say 'I don't care about future generations nor this planet as i will be dead, so i will refuse to use the planet friendly alternatives and just keep burning coal and gas, despite much better options being in place'.

Yes there is. There's plenty wrong with it. For starters, what happens if we do all this carbon emissions reduction and it doesn't work? The same sort of "scientists" that are telling us we have to eliminate CO2 were the same sort that got the hole in the ozone layer wrong forcing a ban on CFC's. Their track record on predictions has been nearly 100% wrong. I could go to a psychic and get better predictions.

What we have is a religion of environmentalism on the radical Left setting an agenda that is likely to be a total failure. If that does happen, they will walk away as if they did nothing even if they completely fucked up everything.

Well, I for one don't buy their bullshit.

STILL trying to chant your religion, eh?

A lease isn't a sale.

Are are AGAIN failing to note the communism and fascism driving these 'sales'.
You are also AGAIN failing to note that Ford is getting out of EVs. So is Toyota.

You are also AGAIN failing to recognize that EVs are far more expensive then gasoline cars of the same size...both to buy, insure, and to maintain.
You are also AGAIN failing to recognize the inconvenience of these cars, constantly worrying about getting your next charge.

Toyota develops battery breakthrough in potential boost for electric cars

Japanese firm develops a solid-state battery with a range of 745 miles that charges in 10 minutes
06:16 EDT Tuesday, 04 July 2023

Toyota has made a technological breakthrough that will allow it to halve the weight, size and cost of batteries, in what could herald a major advance for electric vehicles.
The world’s second largest carmaker was already pursuing a plan to roll out cars with advanced solid-state batteries, which offer benefits compared with liquid-based batteries, by 2025.
On Tuesday, the Japanese company said it had simplified production of the material used to make them, hailing the discovery as a significant leap forward that could dramatically cut charging times and increase driving range.
“For both our liquid and our solid-state batteries, we are aiming to drastically change the situation where current batteries are too big, heavy and expensive,” said Keiji Kaita, president of the Japanese auto firm’s research and development centre for carbon neutrality. “In terms of potential, we will aim to halve all of these factors.”
David Bailey, a professor of business economics at the University of Birmingham, said that if Toyota’s claims were founded, it could be a landmark moment for the future of electric cars.
“Often there are breakthroughs at the prototype stage but then scaling it up is difficult,” he said. “If it is a genuine breakthrough it could be a gamechanger, very much the holy grail of battery vehicles.”

Kaita said the company had developed ways to make batteries more durable and believed it could now make a solid-state battery with a range of 1,200km (745 miles) that could charge in 10 minutes or less.
The company expects to be able to manufacture solid-state batteries for use in electric vehicles as soon as 2027, according to the Financial Times, which first reported on Toyota’s claimed breakthrough.
Solid-state batteries have been widely seen as a potential gamechanger for electric vehicles, promising to reduce charging times, increase capacity and reduce the fire risk associated with lithium-ion batteries, which use a liquid electrolyte.
However, solid-state batteries have typically been harder and costlier to make, limiting their commercial application.
Toyota said it believed it could simplify the production process, potentially making solid-state batteries easier to produce than lithium-ion ones.

Lithium ion batteries do not have a liquid electrolyte. They ARE solid state.
No matter how you do it, lithium still provides the SAME electrons per mole.

How does it feel to be one of the most hopelessly stupid posters on this site?

Do you need me to post all the ICE vehicle manufacturers who went bankrupt along the road before the Big 3 emerged, along with a handful of other SUCCESSFUL manufacturers? DO you think that number is the 10's or Dozens or hundreds or more?

Only you read a story like that Toyota breakthru and wonder why Toyota would pursue such 'wishcasting' of something not yet proven or developed. Only you do not understand that ALL breakthroughs typically come from expiremental pursuit, with lots of failures before success is found.

Only you are stupid enough to think pointing at those who fail is somehow an indictment of the science succeeding.

We have others on this site who pretend conservatards are not anti progress in science or improvements, and i will always cite you as proof they are wrong.

Science is not a 'success' or a 'failure'. Science has no goal. Science is not engineering. Science is not 'improvements'. Science is not 'progress'.

Science is a set of falsifiable theories.

Less than 1% of the cars on the road are EVs'. There's a reason, dope.

Way to try and change the subject. You asked how the government is forcing anyone to buy an EV. I demonstrated that with a 100% conclusive proof. You don't like it, so now you come up with other shit that is irrelevant hoping I'll drop the original debate. Fuck you. You were proved wrong so just eat that crow and enjoy it.

ICEs will available during your whole life. They will not be trashed. Thel atavistic types will never buy an EV. But laws are made for the benefit of society. They are not an arrow into your chain mail protected heart. They are about cutting pollution. You kids will be happy and your grandkids.

Because I think they're a great car that everyone would benefit buying and they would help the environment.
Did you see during the COVID shutdowns when they shut down big cities in China and India how the smog problem miraculously disappeared?
That would be permanent with EVs. Wouldn't that be great?

TANSTAAFL.

EVs' are wasteful of energy, requiring about twice the energy to travel the same distance as a gasoline car of the same size.
Modern FADEC gasoline engines do not produce smog. All cars built since 1990 are FADEC design.
EVs' still must be charged. That power comes primarily from coal, oil, and natural gas. Further, generating and transmitting that electricity to you so you can charge your EV results in much of that energy being lost in waste heat. Even charging and discharging the battery itself results in a lot of waste heat (Telsa batteries are liquid cooled, using a radiator).

You are NOT 'saving the planet' by driving an EV. You are actually using MORE energy (almost twice as much!) as a gasoline car of the same size to go the same distance.

The planet does not need 'saving'. It's quite big enough to take care of itself. You are a fly on an arse. You are a nothing.
Since you LIKE the government shutdowns of Covid in China, go live there. You too can be WELDED INTO YOUR APARTMENT BY THE GOVERNMENT!

Yes, it once again proves what a fucking liar you are. However I am sure that Michigan will allow you to buy ICE cars as long as you want.
It's OK to for big government to tell women what they can do with their bodies, or what form of contraception they cant use. But it's bad when you cant buy a car.
Just fuck off please!

There is no right to murder a child. The child killed IS NOT THE MOTHER'S BODY!

Yes...it's bad when you can't buy a car.

Worse, he's contradicting himself. He's locked in paradox. He's being irrational. He can't claim zero and one are the same thing.

Tesla just announced that it has produced 10 million 4680 battery cells at its Gigafactory near Austin, Texas, according to reporting from Electrek.

The electric vehicle (EV) manufacturer first unveiled the 4680 battery at a shareholder meeting called Battery Day 2020, during which Tesla co-founder and CEO Elon Musk said, “The battery stuff we’re going to talk about is truly revolutionary and essential to Tesla’s goal.”

“For the Cell Factory, for the Texas 4680 factory, we are part way through building and commissioning and installing and operating, will be 70% lower capex per gigawatt hour than typical cell factories when fully ramped in line with what we described on Battery Day,” he said. “On the cell design, we’re in production with not only the first generation tabless cell we unveiled on Battery Day but a second more manufacturable version in Texas today.”

According to Electrek, 10 million 4680 battery cells are enough to produce about 12,000 Model Ys. The 4680 battery cells are also expected to be used in Tesla’s long-awaited Cybertruck, which has faced a great many production delays of its own.

So?
