Kodak Black's lawyer slams Hunter Biden plea deal after rapper sentenced to 3+ years for same crime

Lawyer for hip-hop artist Kodak Black, who was charged with the same federal weapons crime as Hunter Biden and sentenced to over three years in prison, slammed the prison-free plea deal reached by the Justice Department and the president's son.

"There's no such thing as not getting jail time on a gun charge on any kind of gun charge," Bradford Cohen, criminal defense attorney for Black, told Fox News Digital in an interview.

The Justice Department announced Tuesday that Hunter Biden agreed to plead guilty to two misdemeanor counts of willful failure to pay federal income tax. The younger Biden also agreed to enter into a pretrial diversion agreement with regard to a separate charge of possession of a firearm by a person who is an unlawful user of or addicted to a controlled substance.

Cohen commented in a Tuesday Instagram post reacting to the news: "2 tiers of justice? Kodak was charged for the same crime. Got over 3 years. Mr. Biden will not serve a day. Feels right? Do FBI agents and federal authorities take cases personally?"

In 2019, then 22-year-old Black, who had prior convictions, was sentenced to more than three years in federal prison after pleading guilty to weapons charges. He admitted that he falsified information on federal forms to buy four firearms from a Miami-area gun shop on two separate occasions.

Black was pardoned and had his 46-month sentence commuted in 2021 by then-President Donald Trump.

In speaking with Fox Digital on Tuesday, Cohen said the DOJ's plea deal with the younger Biden is out of step with a prosecutor’s typical treatment of federal crimes, especially when they involve public figures.

"I’ve never seen anyone where this offense was charged," Cohen said, "and they didn't get some sort of prison sentence. And in fact, most of the time in federal court, you very rarely see people get anything but a prison sentence.".......

Wesley Snipes was sentenced to 3 years in prison for failure to file income taxes. Black guy gets prison time and White boy gets slapped on the wrist. Sure sounds like a two tier system of government.

So far Trump hasn't spent one minute in jail.

What's more telling is that the MSM usual list of suspects, ABC, NBC, CBS, MSNBC, CNN, the NYT, WaPo, etc., are ignoring the story almost completely or entirely. For them, it's as if it didn't even happen.

Okay, he had priors. Understandable. Hunter had a prior, dismissal from military service. As an officer, this was the equivalent of a serious misdemeanor charge meaning Hunter had a previous drug crime on his record. That should have given him an enhancement on conviction of the gun charge.

I don’t know what the Republican District Attorney based his pleas agreement upon. If they even consider his military career.

They should. There was a big stink a few years back about how the military justice system wasn't meshing with the civilian justice system and people were slipping through despite having been charged and convicted by the military.

Army Didn’t Submit ‘Significant Amount’ of Military Convictions to Federal Databases

Back in 2016 Congress passed a law that made a requirement that the military report convictions and such to the civilian side databases, particularly with regard to firearms sales and purchases because of some high-profile cases where people were able to get a firearm despite military convictions that otherwise would have prevented that.

1. Black had prior convictions, Hunter had none - judges take than into account.
2. fat donny pardoned Black. Hunter will be remain a convicted criminal.

I'd say Black got off much easier than Hunter. Now if Hunter is pardoned by Joe or the next president that will be justice.

Hunter had a previous military conviction. Dismissal from military service due to drug use. That, for an officer in the military, is the equivalent of a serious misdemeanor.

The story has been all over MSNBC today. 5 years the special prosecutor has been investigating Hunter and all you got are these two measly misdemeanors. As usual, the GOP propagandists have lost again.

Let us know when y'all find that lost whistelblower :)

Hunter's military discharge is NOT the same as a federal conviction - there was no JAG procedure, no military tribunal - just a discharge. Apples/oranges, my friend. 5 years - y'all promised us some big Biden/China collusion exposure. Sorry.

There was no military conviction - just an administrative discharge. Check your facts.

Yep. We’ve been telling you about systemic racism in the justice system for years. And now, suddenly, it’s a big issue for you?

Righty are such liars. Hunter has been investigated for 5 years. Rightys have guaranteed huge crimes, international bribery and so much This is all they could find. The Biden crime cabal was going to be exposed. This is nothing. Two misdemeanor tax charges have been settled and a gun paperwork violation. Whoop-de-doo. This is not what you guys said was coming his way. Not even close.
