Does the House GOP have any understanding of the debt ceiling and its consequences?

It's really dismaying to see the quality of representation & leadership we have in the House right now.

McCarthy is smart, but he's a coward. Marjorie Taylor Greene is irrationally brave, but really dopey.

Why can't we do better? Congress should be the best of the best. Smart, courageous, sensible.

I blame our campaign process. You have to be crazy to run for anything.

the guy who thought Gam was going to tip over?......the woman from Minneapolis who married her brother?.....Maxine Waters?.....things are actually getting better

Does the House GOP have any understanding of the debt ceiling and its consequences?

Does Biden? Do Democrats? According to them, there is not one thing to cut in a massive $7 trillion dollar budget. Pretty moronic right?

According to them, you don't discuss the debt limit until you almost hit it, then, you demagogue and fear monger the issue basically arguing that ALL Federal spending is not merely necessary, but sacrosanct.

I cannot think of a party more delusional, dishonest and full of malarky as Democrats.

These same hypocrites gladly raised the debt ceiling twice for their Messiah even while he was setting new records adding over eight trillion to the debt in only four years

WRONG. It was the Democrat majority. Two of the debt raises were with Democrats in control of the legislature, one was with Republicans only in control of the House and it included spending cuts.

So, do morons like you on the left think there is NOTHING to cut? Yes or no?

Who said they are? Why are Republicans against raising taxes on the ultra rich?

Democrats say there is nothing to cut halfwit. The ultra rich already pay the lion's share of taxes. Why do halfwits leftists like you think we have a revenue problem rather than a SPENDING problem?

I'm not a Democrat, but I AM AGAINST CUTTING SPENDING.

Yes, you're a Democrat leftist dumbass AND we don't have a revenue problem in this country, we have a SPENDING problem.

I would not want the people to spend less...and (even more) do not want the government to spend less. Unfortunately, the entire of our economic system is built on people spending more.

That's because you are an uneducated leftist dumbass that thinks Government debt and deficits are awesome, but only when Democrats are in charge.

Cutting defense spending would be just fine with me. Cutting anything that provides a social safety net? No way. We need to spend more not less.

Why do leftist halfwits think people need Government welfare to survive? How is turning citizens into dependent wards of the State a good thing?

If you gave a shit about spending, you would have said something while Trump ran up an $8 trillion deficit. Since you said nothing, your opinion means nothing.

If you gave a shit about spending, you would have said something as Biden outspends Trump like a drunken sailor. Nothing dumber than leftist halfwits whining about hypocrisy and deficit spending.

Unless there is a Republican in the White House. Then they pass a clean debt ceiling bill. Democrats ALWAYS will pass a clean debt ceiling bill. Because that's what should be done. Period.

When Republicans are in charge, there is no need to raise debt ceilings because they actually pass budgets as the law requires. Trump had to deal with Covid. You do remember the pandemic right halfwit?

compare the deficits in Trump's first three years with the one written by Pelosi in his fourth year......when you're done come back and we can discuss it........

It seems you don't understand what a cut is. More revenue isn't a cut in spending. A cut in spending means you spend less than the previous year.
Spending went up every year Trump was in office.

2015 $3,691,850
2016 $3,852,615
2017 $3,981,634
2018 $4,109,047
2019 $4,446,960
2020 $6,553,621

Here is a CUT in spending
2021 $6,822,470
2022 $6,273,324 <--- Democrats controlled both Houses of Congress

Of course, spending up and revenue down will increase the debt. Trump cut taxes mostly for corporations and the wealthy while increasing spending. He jacked the debt up 8 trillion in 4 years.

Why are the democrats against cutting spending?

Spending our tax dollars on stupid shit that we've never had before, and then calling that stupid shit vital to the survival of Americans, is a method the jackasses use to cheat in political campaigns. They create crisis upon crisis and convince their troglodyte base that they can't live unless these calamities are addressed (aka, "throw money at it"). Once they get some seed money to get these "programs" underway, they become a bill that has to be paid, because money was borrowed to pay for this stupid shit in the first place. If they "win" their elections, it's another round of stupid shit, because there's always another election around the corner. If they lose, the republicans are still on the hook for the "bill". And both sides of this stupidity are afraid of getting stuck with the dreaded default.
