EXPERTS ARE PREDICTING AN ‘EV-PLOSION’ OF CHEAP, ELECTRIC CARS — HERE’S HOW LOW PRICES COULD GET

The EV market is booming, and there are a lot of exciting upcoming models. by Mila Dyson*/*May 18, 2023

In 2022, electric vehicle (EV) sales were on the rise but mostly remained popular for buyers with a large budget, with many consumers still finding them too expensive. Several of Tesla’s models were among the most popular EVs across the U.S., and Car and Driver reported it as the bestselling luxury auto brand.
Why 2023 is the year of the EV
Thanks to the Inflation Reduction Act (IRA), many EV buyers will now qualify for all or part of a $7,500 EV tax credit when they go for a new EV. And Tesla and other carmakers have lowered their prices.*
So, as the numbers of EV models available skyrocket and the price of EVs naturally goes down, when the tax credit is considered, many more EVs will soon enter the mainstream, in what Tech Crunch called the “EV-plosion.”
What’re some of the most exciting upcoming electric vehicles?
The EV market is booming, and there are a lot of exciting upcoming models. Many higher-priced EVs don’t qualify for the IRA tax credit — they need to have an MSRP of less than $55,000 unless they’re trucks, vans, or SUVs (which can be eligible at prices up to $80,000). But the growth of the lower-cost EV is electrifying.
One exciting new prospect is the 2024 Chevrolet Equinox EV, which should be relatively affordable with a starting price close to $30,000. Once the $7,500 tax credit is factored in, it would come at a reasonable starting price of $22,500. This compact electric SUV will have an enormous range of 250 miles estimated between charges (or up to 300 miles with higher-priced options), so there is no need for any range anxiety.
The Fisker Ocean is a stylish SUV that its maker has released in Europe and expects to start delivering in the U.S. in June. The base model has an estimated range of 250 miles and a base purchase price of $37,499 — MAGA wets panties.

Other than the above being a clear Rule 5 violation about posting copyright materials, so far the "experts" predictions on EV's have been wrong except for where the government intervenes, like Norway, and forces the public to buy the damn things. Nobody in a free market wants them. They're like a Trabant in East Germany. Nobody really wants one, but it's the only thing you can buy thanks to a dictatorial government, like the one Joke Biden runs...

That is what will happen here. The govt will force citizens to buy putt putt cars and then regulate how much and when you can recharge them. Freedom is quickly vanishing and idiots like Joey here can't wait to be controlled by the govt.

just another way of the government coaxing idiots in to more debt...........the majority of our population cannot afford a brand new vehicle, let alone one over 20k

There are lots of cheap electrics now and more to come. Charging station manufacturers are selling and installing them at apartment buildings.

Building electric charging stations for apartments is easy. All you need is an electrical source which all apartment buildings have.

Simple.

Next question?

One day soon, all gas stations will also have electrical charging stations. Sheetz has already started installing them.

So even the quickest charger takes 20-40 minutes to get your battery to 80%

Compared to five minutes to pump gas

I don’t see that catching on

If you charge a Tesla from dead it will take 4 days. It varies based on the KW of the battery. I do not see this catching on either for now. It would be better to ease into all this with hybrid engine/electric vehicles.

The "experts" were sure that we had to destroy our economy and greatly damage kids by closing schools to save ourselves from Sars-Cov2.

Level 1 20-40 hours
level 2 8 to 12 hours
Superchargers 15 to 25 minutes.
And real charging is much faster because people do not run their cars to zero.

Ideally.....there are many reports of people seeing EV's on flat bed tow trucks, presumably because they ran out of power, which might partly account for the obvious lack of demand for EV's.

Many areas simply don't have the infrastructure in place to handle thousands of EV cars all charging at the same time...yet.
