Tucker Carlson "Preparing for War"

That is, they aren't using him to do anything but still paying him per his contract.

Usually the contract would have a smaller amount of money they would have to pay him if he were not on the air. We do not know how much less Fox has to pay Carlson, but it is usually dependent on how arrogant the talent is. Very arrogant talent assumes that their employer would never want them off the air, and would not care if it were $1 a year. Tucker is very arrogant.

The plan is that anything in his current contract will be voided in favor a new agreement.

The old contract can be bought out, which would void it. Fox holds all the cards when it comes to selling the contract. They do not have to sell, while Carlson desperately needs them to sell. Carlson has some cards when it comes to public relations, in that he can attack Fox and make them look bad with his fans. Even that is a problem for Carlson, because who wants to hire someone who threatens his employers. Best to sit that one out.

The trick here is to offer so much money that Fox is happy to sell the contract. Musk might be a smart bet here, because he has already lost $178 billion, what is a $100 million more? It is literally a rounding error in Musk's losses.

You're an idiot.

Except for the fact you don't know jack shit about either one.

There is a lot of wishful thinking coming from the alt right. "Maybe Fox Corporation will just give Carlson valuable rights for no reason." The world does not work that way, and more important, never negotiate with anyone who thinks the world works like that.

When we sold my grandparents' house we got an offer where the buyer would give us a zero down mortgage, that he would begin paying after a year, but so we would pay all the taxes for the first year out of pocket. In other words, we would pay for him to own a house, and then at some point later, he would start paying us a fraction of the rent he would get. There is no way a reasonable person would accept that offer. When we rejected the offer, he demanded a counter offer "somewhere in-between", and I responded "full list price." You never want to negotiate with someone who refuses to be reasonable.

I believe that he now has a program on Twitter.

Carlson has announced that he will have a show on Twitter, but has not started it. But, there are real questions over whether he legally can do it, and whether Twitter has the bandwidth to do it. This is a basically unused Twitter feature that they would need to try to convince a million elderly Carlson fans to use, and would also need to ramp up the bandwidth to use it. Maybe pre-Musk Twitter would have the people to get this working, but few think the current Twitter has those sorts of people.

I have a program too. :)

Also one on YouTube, TikTok and Truth Social.

That is the weird thing about it all. Musk claims he has made no special deal with Carlson. So literally, Dutch's program will be more sponsored than Carlson's.

The Pedo Don and racist Carlson fans seem to be grasping at straws.

Yeah? So what? Besides exactly what "contracts" are you jabbering on about?

There is a non-compete clause in his Fox contract that means he cannot work for a competitor or start a competing network. If they word it right it can mean he cannot even do a podcast.

Not that I would ever come to the defense of Dumb Fuck Tuck,
but the courts need to look at those non-compete clauses when the on-air talent is not the initiator of the separation.

My understanding is that only applies if both parties comply with the contract. Specifically, if Tucker takes his severance package.

Will Tucker tell the same lies he did on Fox? That helped Fox pay almost a billion to Dominion. Will Twitter force him to be honest, assuming he can be? You rightys will follow him wherever he goes so you can hear the lies you crave.
