What's the deal with Republicans calling the Democratic party the "Democrat party"?

FUCK THE POLICE

What's the deal with Republicans calling the Democratic party the "Democrat party"?

WTF? Why are we suddenly dropping the end off of the names? Should we call the Republican party the "Republic party"? What a childish thing, making a crusade out of a bizarrely developed pet peeve. It just highlights the fact that the opposition is composed of babies.

1. Consistency of language: Republicans make up the Republican Party and Democrats make up the Democrat Party. Democrats do not make up a "Democratic" Party any more than Republicans make up a "Republicanatic" Party.
2. Truth in language: Democrats insist on calling themselves "Democratic" in order to invoke a positive image. After all, who can be against something that is democratic? However, there's nothing democratic about the Democrat Party; therefore to call themselves "Democratic" is a lie.
3. The Southern Man is on record of using the correct term "Democrat Party" long before it became popular with popular pundits.

for about 20 years now they have been doing it.

Funny thing is you can spot a phoney dem on TV by catching them saying Democrat party.

No democrat would do that.

The name of the party is the Democratic party.

You do not get the change the name of the party asshole

I have nothing against using progressive and its not incorrect in my mind.

I just hate the idea of changing the label of what I have always called myself proudly because of some Rovian type of shaping add program.

It started at the same time as the calling the Democratic Party the democrat party.

It just feels like giving into a con mans game.

It means both, and it's irrelevant anyway. Why do we spend so much time debating generic classifications? It produces nothing. Debate actual issues, which CAN be solved.

:yay:

I can just see some Republicans sitting around going 'you know we should call the Democratic Party the Democrat Party. That will really disrespect them'. And then you have Democrats like Desh who take it as a personal insult like you are attacking their manhood or God.
