This is really more about... Corporations, like people, behave for their own best interests. Altruism is a rarity. Government, likewise, acts in the interests of those running it. So, if government, like it was under Obama, and now under Biden, want ESG values pushed, corporations push ESG values. This is particularly true were a corporation has nothing to lose by playing along while simultaneously currying the favor of government. Government, in turn, turns a blind eye to corporations that it likes and favors.
