Dems Alarmed as Independents Bolt

You know, those people that win elections. If reasonable Dems, want them back then kill the parts of the so called healthcare reform which include more government, more spending and more debt. Kill the climate change initiative and focus on creating an environment that actually attracts job creating business and investment. Stop government spending increases and look at cutting government.

"a flurry of new polls makes clear that Democrats are facing deeper problems with independents—the swing voters who swung dramatically toward the party in 2006 and 2008 but who now are registering deep unease with the amount of spending and debt called for under Obama's agenda in an era of one-party rule in Washington.

A Gallup Poll released last week offered a disturbing glimpse about the state of play: just 14 percent of independents approve of the job Congress is doing, the lowest figure all year. In just the past few days alone, surveys have shown Democratic incumbents trailing Republicans among independent voters by double-digit margins in competitive statewide contests in places as varied as Connecticut, Ohio and Iowa. Yeah it sucks. I think they need to pass healthcare as fast as possible - the longer the right wingers go nuts about things that they've made up about the bill, the worse.

Then we can move on to more populist vote getters, like financial regulation, which will boost our numbers.

Dems are going to take a bath in the next election, no matter what happens in the next year, so they might as well ram as much through as they can now, and damn the torpedos, as they say...

The way the American public now see it after this week:

Under new national healthcare law any woman under age 50 does not get mammograms covered because its to expensive for national healthcare.

The Democrats are trailing the GOP in the generic congressional ballot on several fronts. The Democrats have to be ahead by at least 1 or 2 percent TO GET A MAJORITY. If we don't boost our numbers we're going to lose the house.

/shrugs....the libs have enough trouble finding answers to the things that AREN'T made up about the bill....why would we bother making things up.....can you tell me why the UAW clause hasn't been deleted yet, for example?.......that one really bothers me......

Union payoff should get stripped from ObamaCare: Detroit News

Earlier in the week, we found out that unions have good reasons to conduct an Astroturf campaign on behalf of ObamaCare — in fact, ten billion good reasons. The Detroit Free Press reported that HR3200 gives a $10,000,000,000 subsidy to union pension and benefit plans, a key component that had gone largely unremarked. Later in the week, the Detroit News’ editorial board blasted the payoff and demanded its removal:

One reason the public so distrusts the health care plan being considered by Congress is that so many troublesome details keep bubbling out of the massive legislation.

The latest example is the $10 billion taxpayers will be asked to shell out to prop up the United Auto Workers’ retiree health insurance program. …

In effect, it would ask every taxpayer, regardless of whether they’ll have health insurance coverage themselves after they retire — and most won’t — to chip in to maintain the UAW’s coverage, which even after the union’s givebacks is still better than what the average American worker receives.

That’s one important point to remember. Union health plans will be exempt from the limitations of ObamaCare, allowing unions to operate as insurers while forcing everyone else into government-approved plans in “exchanges”. Instead of having the union pay for their own plans, taxpayers will subsidize them, while getting less themselves.

The Detroit News notes that the biggest beneficiary of this largesse will be the United Auto Workers, whose pension plans are in serious trouble. This should be a showstopper anyway, as the American taxpayer has bailed out the UAW not once but twice, first in dumping billions of dollars into GM and Chrysler, and then in the politicized bankruptcies that gave the UAW large portions of both companies.

I'm as turbo-lib socially as you can get.
I'm not shocked, dems are foolishly grabbing everything they can from thier wish list bag. AS if campagning on frugality and spending like the drunken sailor ordering a yatch every week is not going to matter.
IF HC passes, the next round of tea-baggers will make the million man march look like kids playing hop scotch.

This is what I'm talking about, right-wingers mixing up things that have nothing to do with this healthcare bill, and outright lying. If that's how the American public sees it, then the American public is a bunch of ignorant retards.

Who cares?

if obama can legalize pot then my vote for him will be worth it. If america is going down at least we can party.

yeah waterturd, like dems didn't underhandedly beat Bush I with no more new taxes after they all but threatened suicide if he didn't pass the taxes.

Wow you guys don't really get it do you, this isn't right-wingers stirring up independents minds, this is those same independent thinking people who saw the Republicans overspending and threw them out, who now see the Dems WAY overspending and are WAY more stirred to throw them out.
As if they give a fuck about Rush or other shit they don't listen to. They SEE the numbers and the numbers with king kong size deficits and Democrats with plans to spend even more and call it "reform".

I am a Democrat and I can assure you that I am not worried, the independents may be moving Right, but thats part of the normal swing that happens when one party has the majority of the power.

It will likely result in losses in the sennate and house in 2010 and maybe the white house in 2012. If history tells us anything it is that losses in 2010 do not necessarly mean a loss of the presidency in 2012. Regan lost big in the house and Sennate 2 years into his first term, as did President Clinton.

Please. You don't have to listen to Rush; the propoganda is everywhere.

I can almost guarantee that if you did a poll on whether Obama has raised income taxes, more than half of those polled would say "yes"

And what will you buy it with? The dollar that somehow won't go down when America does?

my welfare check? In ten years i will own house free and clear and have enough money in safe deposit boxes that I buy what i need in cash, only have utilities and property taxes.. and put my hand out for free services. LOL the way we are headed I suggest the same strategy.
