Columbia University to No Longer Require SAT/ACT for Undergrad Admissions

So you think a private business should be able to discriminate on the basis of skin color????

Of course. It's called Freedom of Association. You should be allowed to ban anyone you want from your private business for any reason. We have FOA in our private homes but not in our private businesses even though it is your money on the line. THINK

The SATs are being taught for kids of means. They have classes on how to do better. That spreads minority scores from suburban white kids.

You stupid ignorant jackass. There are many books that have actual SAT tests from 5 -10 years ago. You can buy one or take it out at the library for free.!!!

Naturally most of those who did well or great on such a test embrace all the dogma surrounding it. Like wise, most of those who did the opposite reject such. And then there's a growing "middle ground" who question both extremes.

When I was a kid in college, I took a course where the class had to put together a newspaper. At one point, I visited the campus printing center to give them the layout and various articles. While there the manager and I struck up a conversation. "Tell you something, kid", he said. "I learned this business from the ground up....got a part time job straight out of high school at a local print shop...started from the bottom, worked my way up. All that's gone now....they tell kids like you that you have to "specialize" and take this and that course, get this and that degree. Damn shame, so much talent out there won't get a real chance to learn".

Just saying.

The pro SAT/ACT folks will tell you that it is data driven, that research shows a correlation between success on the test and how a student performs upon arriving on campus. And especially at an elite school such as Columbia it does no favors to a kid putting them in that environment if they aren’t equipped to handle it.

They’ll also argue it’s a great way for low income kids, often from underserved communities, to catch the attention of recruiters/admissions at elite schools.

Yes, they'll tell you all that. What they won't tell you is interesting ... like this: https://dailytitan.com/opinion/sat-...cle_ec473934-97d4-11eb-a123-2ff94de71f68.html

I think the key is that they shouldn't be NEEDED to get into a good college. If the high school is failing to get you across the line as measured by SAT or ACT then that's a problem that needs fixing because it creates an undue extra financial burden and the poor are less likely to get access to the additional training.

Why do you libs always blame the schools for black failure.? The average black IQ is 65. People like that can never learn how to even read.

Yes, unlike HS grades, the SAT is a standardized test.

Dems deny Blacks a real education, urge Black mothers to kill their children in the womb, trap Blacks in segregated ghettos, deny Black communities police protection, and Dem policies murder more Blacks in 4 months than the Dem KKK did for its whole existence. And the Dems hate the Jewish State.

Man, the bats are really busy under the Big Dumb Dog's pointy hood tonight! Talk about "triggered"!

Disagree 100%.

Here's why: free public education is the single greatest invention of the United States. .

HAHAHA. You are dumbest person in america. Our schools are awful!!!! They are just liberal propaganda centers teaching kids to hate america and hate white people and love child molesters and all other perverts.

If a public school is poorly ran like the Baltimore schools a poor family should have the right to transfer their kids AND the tax dollars that would normally be spent on them to ANY successful school that will take them and their tax dollars. It would get kids out of failing schools and give those failing schools a REAL reason to improve.

How about fixing the failing schools instead?

Poor people need to save their kids now. You could give the school choice kids 90% of the tax dollars so the public schools so every kid the public school does not have to educate they make 10% on. So it is a win win. The average high school student in the us costs $13,701. So the kid could have a $12,000 voucher and the public school gets $1,700 for nothing.

Lowering the entrance standards lowers the quality of education.

Even the far left loons should understand that.

it does not. The education presented is the same. If you think the students will be less qualified, the flunk rate will be higher.

If the entrance qualification standards are lowered, the education presented must be lowered to accommodate these unqualified students.

Otherwise, why lower the entrance qualifications?

The agenda of the left is to lower the standards to allow non-qualified students to attend universities.
