The country is not a symbol of freedom and liberal democracy.

Statements from U.S. and other Western officials, as well as pervasive accounts in the news media, have created a stunningly misleading image of Ukraine. There has been a concerted effort to portray the country not only as a victim of brutal Russian aggression, but as a plucky and noble bulwark of freedom and democracy. The conventional narrative would have us believe that Ukraine is an Eastern European version of Denmark.

The fact the Russian Army is faltering on the battlefield due to Russian corruption seems to indicate the article isn't very accurate.

Have to say that for a corrupt and unhealthy (the article focuses on the country's bad health) nation Ukraine displays remarkable patriotism and physical stamina from its citizens.

I oppose NATO- but that's not support for Russia. NATO is a self-fulfilling prophesy- as is currently being demonstrated.
Ukraine is, by many accounts, the most corrupt country in Europe. The government has given this corrupt country hundreds of billions of US taxpayers dollars. Nobody here appears in the least bit annoyed. Maybe EVERYBODY is corrupt ?
The US also supports Israel, a state wallowing in corruption. Its leadership is charged with corruption and actually engaged in changing the law so that it can't be prosecuted- yet still the US dollars roll in.
Saudi Arabia ? Best of friends.
 
I was listening to something on the radio the other day, the exact same bullshit was spouted by the Russians to justify invading Czechoslovakia. Nothing ever changes even the useful idiots remain the same.
