Tucker Carlson is one of the most powerful figures in the media

As to the ratings thing - for years, there were dozens of more liberal-leaning networks and shows on cable, and really, just 1 conservative (that is changing, but that's the way it was for years).

Of course the 1 conservative network will have higher ratings. No competition.

I think this is something that needs to be considered. It's something that people need to think at a deeper level about, and really analyze it.

More than just about anything, it's like a marker of exactly where we are in 2023. And that isn't in a good place.

We need to do better. We need to at least try to do better.

Just stop watching him! Please! For fuck’s sake, he’s a COMMENTATOR! I don’t watch any of those twits on cnn, but I don’t care who I get the hard news from because it’s all the same.
Hell, I caught Anderson cooper the other day doing a documentary type thing on Ukraine. No Trump, no tater head, no 1/6, no discernible domestic politics that I could see. Just some pretty good information.

Tucker has an agenda. He’s an anti-bullshit conservative who sometimes disagrees with the right wing establishment, you just have to listen for it. It’s probably not worth the time investment to you though. So just turn him off.

And what’s this “We need to do better. We need to at least try to do better.” BS? What do you want to do with him? Throw him in a frozen Minnesota gulag? Pesky 1st Amendment again!

You could have just written that Tucker has an agenda.

Ask yourself, why does Progressive / Leftist cable news and talk radio fail so badly compared to Conservative / Rightist shows. Why is that?

I can tell you why. Most Democrats have real lives and don't sit around at night watching Hate Politics on television.

Most Democrats listen to music on their radios in their automobiles and don't listen to HATE RADIO programs!

There is a fantastic chance that snitches inside of Deep State have passed on to Tucker the names and face pics of operatives who were on the ground making sure that the Revolution got what they needed.

This might be good, Team Tucker might even have a facial recognition program.

His ratings like all evening talk show ratings are a tempest in a teapot. His 3.5 million viewers are about two percent of the national turnout in the last election. He's like us, really, on the fringe of everyday concerns. The vast majority of Americans have their heads elsewhere than the ins and outs of national politics.

Tucker is one of the 30 most influential speakers in America....this is what matters.....it is not how many people watch him.....it is how many of the people who matter who follow what he is saying and who he platforms.

Wonder who the other 29 are, or how anyone would know if that "influence" is more real than imagined.

He started the whole CRT racial hatred thing.

The power of rumors.

And he is the rumor-master.

A diabolical racist-for-profit.

Using hatred to make money.

Disgusting.

You have a point, PoliTalker. CRT has been around for a long time but became a hot button issue only recently.

Found this in a piece on the history of CRT opposition:

"...Enter Christopher Rufo, a 36-year-old self-described “political brawler” from Gig Harbor Washington. He, like other political hustlers, had recognized the need to replace vacuous terms like “political correctness” and “cancel culture.” After reviewing a 2020 City of Seattle anti-bias training session, Rufo found the “perfect villain.” By cherry-picking a few Marxist academicians, he found a way to tie anti-racism to anti-capitalism. Ignoring far more relevant influences like Martin Luther King, he discovered a way to turn Critical Race Theory into a political cudgel. This insight brought him to Tucker Carlson and the Trump White House.

And so the campaign to vilify Critical Race Theory took shape, starting with a concerted effort to mischaracterize it. Blur the distinction between pedagogy and curriculum. Accentuate the most glaring examples of dubious anti-racism techniques (e.g., privilege ranking and bookshelf decolonization). Reframe it as an effort to indoctrinate young children. Avoid any constructive discussion of improving specific techniques. Conflate it with terms that poll poorly (e.g., Antifa and wokeness). Redefine it as an assault on American values.

The next phase of the anti- Critical Race Theory campaign? Create a story with vivid enemies and heroes. Attack progressives not as advocates of equal opportunity, but as arrogant academicians leading woke mobs against honest, hard-working (and non-racist) whites. Portray Critical Race Theory opponents as brave cultural heroes manning the ramparts against Marxists who would brainwash our children and destroy our nation. And cloak the campaign in disingenuous rhetoric, such as the trope that fighting racism is no longer necessary in a nation that elected a Black President."
