Honestly, I don't understand how elderly people have no concept that the world kept going even after you checked out. Rihanna has been globally successful and popular since 2005. That's 18 years. She has sold more than 250 million records. She is the second-best-selling female music artist in history. You may as well say you've never heard of Elvis Presley.

Too much exposure to contemporary pop culture keeps one's mind all too occupied with one depressing thought:

We are presently living in a cultural dark age, the likes of which hasn't existed since prior to the Renaissance.


Thank goodness my audio equipment still works. The vacuum tubes still glow.
If I want to hear music, I can listen to Aretha, not whatever the fuck her name is.

Spoken like a typical, grumpy, old guy. I'm less concerned about the cultural dark age than I am of the intellectual dark age. You should be too. The Trump years erased the Renaissance for low-information, undereducated Americans.

Her name is Rihanna. It's not that different from Aretha. And I listen to both of them, thank you very much. Keep being a bitter curmudgeon who apparently hasn't absorbed a new track in two decades. I won't ever go out like that.
