What a great use of militarized police forces. And "sex offender," come on. I blame Damo and SF again.

For ten years, Boulder residents have staged a spontaneous "naked pumpkin run" on Halloween, in which dozens of runners (150 last year) don only shoes and a pumpkin on their head, then jog a four-block route through the city.

This year, however, Boulder police put an end to the revelry, stationing 40 cops and two SWAT teams along the route, which police chief Mark Beckner promising that anyone showing their, er, treats would land on the state's sex offender list.

Looks like it worked. Just a few people did the run this year, and with sufficient clothing to ward off an arrest.

Fricking weird that it is the open and liberal Boulder that cracks down and makes them register as sex offenders for running around with pumpkins on their heads.

Somehow I do not get the point of running around naked with a pumpkin on one's head, but I guess this is a liberal entertainment at its best.

Everyone ought to run naked at least once in there life. Whether you have a large edible gourd on your head is up to you.

But the reaction by the authorities is extreme, to say the least.

I am amazed that someone thought it necessary to bring out the SWAT team.

Were they expecting them to be armed? Where does a naked person carry a gun? (nevermind, don't answer that one)
 
Well, if you are going to bust a Priest for running naked on a track at 2AM you have to apply it equally or you'll get sued. You have to bust pumpkin headed teens running naked during prime time.

I know its against the law and they should probably do something to them.

But SWAT? And to make them into sex offenders? Thats harsh even down here in the bible belt.
 
Damo, you should run for Gov. of CO.

Make nude pumpkin running as your platform!
