Tesla Model 3 named winner in KBB’s 5-Year Cost to Own Awards 2022. MAGA wets panties

Is he the one that ran off a mountain in Hawaii

Not sure if it was him or not. A number of the 427 S/C's were wrecked. As much fun to drive as these cars are, they are a handful and are not for the timid.

There were a few Thunderbolts at the Carlisle Ford weekend, one was for sale but I didn't see what the price was. Looked very nice, I'm sure it was restored.
427 blocks are very rare, and most are already sleeved if you can find one.

When I was still practicing there was a 427 all aluminum Krikham for sale I very seriously thought about getting it. Now I wish I had.:(

Kirkham's aren't cheap! The aluminum bodies are nice, but are very flimsy and dent easily. Ever see one of the polished ones up close? One beautiful car, but I'd be afraid to drive it. A bug would dent it!
The originals were hand built and no two bodies were the same. Kirkham uses a mold, so most parts are interchangeable today

Tesla Model 3 named as one of the winners in KBB’s 5-Year Cost to Own Awards for 2022

The Tesla Model 3 was recently deemed by Kelley Blue Book as one of the winners in its 5-Year Cost to Own Awards for 2022. KBB’s 5-Year Cost to Own Award explores the costs associated with the ownership of a vehicle. This includes the vehicle’s price, maintenance costs, fuel or charging rates, any state tax, and registration fees, as well as a car’s depreciation over a 5-year ownership period, among others.

As per the automotive research company, the 2022 Tesla Model 3 leads the “Electric Luxury Vehicle” segment with a 5-year cost to own of $48,233. According to Kelley Blue Book, the Model 3’s 5-year cost to own is $16,411 less than the segment average. This is quite impressive, especially considering that the Model 3 is Tesla’s entry-level vehicle today.

The fact that the Model 3 was dubbed by KBB as one of the winners in its 2022 5-Year Cost to Own Awards is quite unsurprising, especially if one were to consider that electric vehicles like Teslas do not need as much maintenance as their internal combustion engine-powered counterparts. And being part of Tesla’s ecosystem, the Model 3 enjoys a number of perks that some of its rivals in the “Electric Luxury Vehicle” segment do not enjoy as well, such as Supercharging rates, which are extremely convenient and affordable

The Telsa has the most recalls and dealer required repairs of any car. ICE cars easily last 5 years with little maintenance. Indeed, they last much longer than that!

You never really own a Tesla. Tesla Corp can reach into and change programming in your car every time you charge at one of their stations.

This is quite true. It's Tesla's way of downloading their latest patches into the car's software. What comes with it? Who knows, other than Tesla?

This July 2021 story is a wake-up call. Since then, the SODC has dismantled even power generating capacity. They import the bulk of their power now, putting the Western Regional Interconnect at much greater risk, affecting even parts of Canada.

The Western Regional operators will be forced to isolate the SODC should their demand go too high. This will result not only in rolling blackouts, but BLACKOUTS. The SODC could easily reach the stage where it looks like North Korea at night. No lights. No internet. No air conditioners. No charging your EV. No TV. No water pumps. No computer to even complain about it on JPP.

Yeah the originals were hand rolled so no two fenders were exactly the same. I didn't know the Kirkhams were thin.

Thicker than the originals, but not much. Next to the Shelby International, the Kirkham is the top of the line replica. And at a whopping $150,000 (new) to start.

Your surrender is accepted.

Are you really implying that the average Domino's customer will be happier or more likely to order a pizza because it will be delivered in an EV rather than an ICE powered vehicle?

Wow, you really are struggling with reading comprehension, son.

I was making the point that, just like all consumers, corporations see the advantage of EVs with their low maintenance, low energy costs and reliability and that's why they are buying them. That's why every year, more and more EVs are being sold. Each year breaks the previous year's sales record.
Why does that trigger you so badly?

Uh, how does that affect ownership?

It's difficult to describe using phone typing but I'll try.

To get a boost in speed you pay a bit extra and they update a digital switch turning on a sport option. Now let's say you get work done at a local shop... then try to charge your vehicle at a Tesla speed charger. They will know it was touched by hands that were not Tesla approved, reach in and flip a switch that shuts off speed charging, slowing your charge down to a crawl and will sometimes shut off the sport feature too if they believe you let someone other than Tesla approved fingers touch the car.

If you sell it they shut off the feature and make the next owner pay again for the sport feature... you didn’t own a sport version, you just rented the feature... they can reach through and punish you for things you do with their car, proving who really owns the vehicle.

Which is deeply disturbing but for now Musk gets as pass for everything because of Twitter. Other companies who do this dont.

So it’s like an iPhone. I understand, they retain some rights.

You still own it, but they have some power to manage it. They don’t get to take it for a spin every Wednesday.

It will be an interesting new body of law shifting to accommodate these issues. I wonder if you sign an agreement when you buy it new acknowledging this when you buy a new one.

If I wanted to spend more, I could have had Alum heads, etc. but I chose to go the "period correct" route. Stock bore & stroke, stock period correct heads and intake. Basically what was in it when it was in it, except 50+ more HP and 9.7:1 compression so I can run pump Hi-test (garbage) gas.
Yeah I run E85 in my Shelby 500. It loves the corn. I run 16psi.
