Brett Kavanaugh Partying With Matt Gaetz Raises Questions

Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh attended a Christmas party along with a number of prominent right-wingers, such as House Representative Matt Gaetz and Stephen Miller, formerly a senior adviser to Donald Trump.

Other guests included Sean Spicer and Sebastian Gorka, who served the Trump administration as press secretary and deputy assistant to the president respectively.

Kavanaugh has served on the Supreme Court since October 6, 2018, having been appointed by President Trump.

While Supreme Court Justices aren't bound by the same rules as federal judges, they are expected to maintain high ethical standards.

Not even trying to hide the fact that he's about as impartial as Tucker Carlson, is he?

You are just fine with Supreme court justices partying with the Obamas in Martha's Vineyard though.

Unless Kavanaugh's the one in charge of the guest list, this is a monumentally huge nothing burger.

I don't base my decision to go to a party based on who else is going to be there...

You are a nothingburger so no one cares, but yes -- I bet if you found out a particularly nasty person from your past was there, you might think twice. I know I would.

These Justices are on a whole different level than you and me. They are rightfully held to a higher standard than average citizens like us. Would it bother you if one of the "liberal" Justices went to a dinner with well-known far-lefties like members of the American Communist Party, the American Socialist Party, and other like-minded people?

It was a great party; too bad you missed it. :rofl2:

You need to lose this idea that everyone would/should do what you would do.

It's easy to attend a party/gathering and avoid people you'd rather not associate with...

I know you want me to say it would concern me, but the reality is that I would apply the exact same standard...

A former digital strategist for the Senate Republican Conference, who also worked for pro-life groups and designed social media ads for Donald Trump’s re-election campaign, has been charged with distributing child pornography.

D.C. Metropolitan Police arrested Ruben A. Verastigui on Friday after an investigation revealed he allegedly “distributed, received, and possessed images of child pornography” between March 2020 and February 2021. Jared Holt, resident fellow at the Atlantic Council’s Digital Forensic Research Lab, first reported Verastigui’s arrest on Twitter.

The sexual perversion that goes on in Washington ... being kind of a young guy in Washington, where the average age is probably 60 or 70 -- [you] look at all these people, a lot of them that I've looked up to through my life, I've always paid attention to politics. ... Then all of a sudden you get invited -- 'We're going to have a sexual get-together at one of our homes, you should come.' ... What did you just ask me to come to? And then you realize they're asking you to come to an orgy. ... Some of the people leading on the movement to try and remove addiction in our country, and then you watch them do a key bump of cocaine right in front of you. And it's like, this is wild."

I doubt that. As someone else pointed out, your head would have exploded had Obama attended a party with known radicals or BLM members.

From the article: "According to Politico, the party was hosted by Matt Schlapp, chair of the American Conservative Union, along with his wife, Mercedes, on Friday at their home in Alexandria, Virginia."

No, nothing impartial with *that* crowd, right?
