Garland appoints special counsel

Durham made huge promises, spent millions, and delivered nothing. Well, he did get a lawyer for a paperwork violation that makes America safe from communism and an overthrow. He did not fail because he did not try, but because there were no crimes to prosecute.
Justice has a ton of crimes Trump and his minions committed to deal with. I cannot see him getting away with it all. I just wonder if he will get special treatment and not go to jail as he deserves.

Durham's theme song is "Womp, womp woommmmmmmmp".

Did you choose your name on JPP from the name of O.J.'s character from the "Smoking Gun" movies?

If this doesn't slow down the investigation into the stolen documents, I'm okay with it, but not thrilled. Either way, Trumps indictment is inevitable. It's just a question of when, not if. The 1/6 thing was always going to take longer as DOJ worked their way up the conspiracy ladder. But the document case is open and shut, and Trump is the alpha and omega of that investigation.

Yet they cannot seem to find any to charge him with. Go sit in the corner dunce.

The fact that they haven't yet indicted him isn't proof they haven't found crimes. It could be they are making sure they have a rock solid case before indicting. That is what the DoJ is supposed to do. Something Durham failed to do since he lost both of the cases he brought.

Correct. They appear to be at the stage in the case where they are attempting to shut down ANY potential defense. Of which there aren't really any. It makes it easier if they can demonstrate that there is no evidence that Trump declassified documents. They are going to impugn Patel by giving him immunity and forcing him to testify. I suspect that will be the end of any potential defenses. But either way, this is an easy case for DOJ to prove.

Let's look at what you said...
he got an FBI agent to plead guilty to making the whole thing up.....

Now let's look at your link.
A former FBI lawyer pleaded guilty Wednesday to altering an email that one of his colleagues relied on as he sought a court’s blessing to surveil a former Trump campaign adviser during the bureau’s 2016 investigation of Russia’s election interference.

Altering an email is not the same thing as "making the whole thing up."

Kevin Clinesmith, who worked in the FBI general counsel’s office starting in 2015, told a federal judge he thought at the time he was inserting truthful information, though he conceded he doctored the message.

“You agree you intentionally altered the email to include information not originally in the email?” the judge asked.
He inserted something into the email that wasn't in it previously but the rest of the email had existed. So not only did he not make up the whole Russian investigation, he didn't even make up the whole email that he was convicted of a misdemeanor for.

What is even funnier is when you examine how the email was changed. It didn't make something up to be added into the email. Instead it changed it to say Page was not a CIA source.

I see where you're coming from.......you're a demmycrat........you don't believe in indicting people just because you find evidence they committed crimes.......you're looking for something more........something red........

The standard for the DoJ is not indict if you find a crime. The standard is indict if you have enough evidence to convict.

dude.....he filed a false affidavit.....the affidavit formed the basis for the whole Russian collusion fiasco.....

so if you don't have evidence to convict someone of a crime it can still be evidence they committed a crime?.......interesting theory.......how about the lib'rul corollary....if you have enough evidence to convict someone of a crime, but you like their politics or hope to get their vote later, you set them free......

im not even sure why theres a special counsel tbh. Its not like you dont know the facts of the case or the facts of the case were ever in dispute. This has been true from day 1. You either charge or you dont. Unless the goal is to just have a never ending investigation.

It's to put a neutral set of eyes on it since the Trumpers always whine the Democrats are biased. They don't trust our nation, they don't trust the FBI or the DOJ.

The idea is the special investigator will hit the ground running. the case is well along. It is not like Durham, who was in place just to keep spending tax dollars and firing up rightys, Trump will be indicted.

OMG. You had better tell the rest of the Trump frothers on here that it wasn't the Steele dossier that was the basis for the whole Russian collusion fiasco.

Meanwhile back in the real world... Crossfire Hurricane was opened when the Australian government informed the FBI that Papadopolus had told them that Russia had hacked Hillary's email and was going to release it to help Trump get elected.
