“Republicans talk a big game about free speech and the First Amendment. But when it comes down to it, they actually believe people should only be free to discuss topics they’ve approved. No elected official better epitomizes this hypocrisy than Florida governor Ron DeSantis who signed into law a bill—eye-rollingly named “Stop WOKE Act”—that restricts conversations about race in schools and businesses. And on Thursday, a federal judge called him on his bullshit.”

“In a 138-page order, chief US district judge Mark Walker blocked state officials from enforcing a central piece of the Stop WOKE Act, which he dubbed “positively dystopian” and says violates the First Amendment. Citing George Orwell’s 1984, Walker wrote that DeSantis and company seem to believe that “the State has unfettered authority to muzzle its professors in the name of ‘freedom, which is quite obviously not freedom at all.”

“The law had created absurd new protections for students and workers that would allow them to sue if they believe a classroom lesson or workplace training course caused them to “feel guilt, anguish, or any other form of psychological distress.”

That's great, but DeSatan will just use it to raise money, "look how the woke are attacking me!". That's why he does it. Playing with people's lives doesn't bother that shit stain as long as it gets him "mentions" on Twitter. He's like Cancun Ted and the rest of them.

How terribly fragile Reichwingers are, if they need a law to allow them to sue their employer or their kid's school for hurting their feelz by discussing our shared racial history, discrimination, LGBTQ themes, or any of the other many topics that appear to trigger them.

College professors generally teach people age 18 and older. Employers generally have employees from late teens and up. If these students and employees are so fragile that merely learning about the history of racism, or being told by their HR department that corporate policy forbids hate speech, then I guess they need a big fascist daddy governor to soothe their hurt feelz and let them sue. I saw one of YOUR racist posts the other day. No wonder you applaud trampling on the First Amendment in order to allow you to spread your hate. Your post is a complete failure, as you completely ignored the point made about the 6 year old child being taught anything on this topic. It's simply not appropriate and it absolutely shouldn't happen.

At the high school and college levels, I would have far less of a problem with it, providing their wasn't a requirement for a student to undertake that course of instruction. Make it an elective. Fair compromise?

As an employer, I can tell you that my company's culture does not, in any way, shape or form, condone "hate speech" in the work place, and using it in the work place is grounds for immediate termination. I do not try to control what my employees do outside the confines of the workplace, however. That's not my job. Also, as an employer, I don't hire people to become educated on the history of racism. I hire people to do a particular job.

And I know what quote you're speaking of (our resident scumbag liar seems to think he's accomplishing something my repeatedly posting it). The fact is that it's not racist at all. It's a statement which is based on my personal experiences. If that's all it takes to twist your diaper, kitten, tough shit. I really don't care that it does...
