Trump declares war on DeSantis

Donald Trump effectively declared war on Republican rival Ron DeSantis with a blistering broadside against the Florida governor, setting the stage for a destructive battle within a party already wounded from a poor showing in the midterm elections.

“Fox, the Wall Street Journal, and the no longer great New York Post, is all in for Governor Ron DeSanctimonious," he wrote in a 500-word email to supporters.

The New York Post, which backed Mr Trump for re-election in 2020, eviscerated him following the lacklustre performance of candidates he endorsed in Tuesday’s elections

Meanwhile, the once staunchly pro-Trump network Fox News carried Mr DeSantis’s victory speech live and published an op-ed on Wednesday titled "Ron DeSantis is the new Republican Party leader".

Mr Trump was reported to have "fumed" at his opponent’s favourable coverage.

Many Republicans have begun openly expressing the opinion that Mr DeSantis would make for a stronger general election candidate than Mr Trump in 2024.

Mr Trump is poised to announce his own bid for the White House next week, but he may enter that contest in a more vulnerable position than before, given Mr DeSantis’s growing muscle.

The open warring between its two most popular leaders will likely cause deep dismay in the GOP, which will see it as an unwelcome distraction for voters.

Well if there's one thing that gets Trump hot it is somebody else getting the attention he believes he deserves. That's why he turned on Ivana and started cheating with Marla Maples.

I don't. He has no shame. I always said he had Narcissistic Personality Disorder but now I'm beginning to believe he's a sociopath. I seriously doubt he will go on his own. He will not give up. Therefore he will self-destruct, which I believe he is in the process of doing now.

He already lost a lot by trying to ridicule the very popular DeSantis. I listened to two right wing radio shows the last couple of days and both want Trump to go. I never watch Hannity or Tucker, but it will be interesting to see if they say the same. I doubt they have so far.
I think the hardcore MAGA's will go the way of the Tea Party.

The few that are left can start their own party, vote for dems out of spite (Trump's solution with GA Gov. Kemp, which didn't work) or accept defeat and move on. They will be insignificant.
Also future GOP candidates now understand that the future to their success is to stay the fuck away from Trump. Like that Virginia governor did when he got elected. They can learn from that guy.
 
Trump is vulnerable and a smart righty can take him out. Just say his court cases are real and he cannot win them, so move on.

It is. A smarter move, though maybe futile as well, might be to pat DeSantis on the back, treat him like a little boy who has done well and one day will get his chance in the sun.

I agree, but think about this: he is working a few hours a week, less than an hour a day. And he is completely exhausted by that tiny bit of effort? Biden is working the schedule of a President, taking punches from everyone, and is able to continue on.

Thomas is 74 and clearly not healthy. Kavanaugh has substance abuse problems. Neither Thomas nor Kavanaugh will be alive a decade from now, the question is whether it will be tomorrow or 9 years from now. Barrett has crazy seeping out of every pour of her body. Who can tell when she will get cutoff by someone on the road and decide to kill everyone in a fit of road rage.

You are right, Hawkeye has no clue. Hawkeye's response was that I lied. Lied about asking which "he" Hawkeye was talking about? Lied about my opinion that I hope we are putting this behind us? I do not know. There does not seem to be anything I could have lied about.
 
Trumps mistake actually might matter....Trump was never going to be allowed to run again but if the Revolution decides that he be both has no chance of winning and might weaken DeSantos maybe they let him.

I tend to doubt it though, hurting Trump is still the first priority, getting him into a jail cell is still the #1 goal....as a lesson to the rest of us.
