Will Kevin McCarthy become Speaker? Should he?

The radical element in the Republican Party which will take over in January thinks "maybe not".

I'm thinking McCarthy will, indeed, become Speaker, but he'll have to sell his soul to the Wackadoodle Caucus to do it. Kevin has already proved he'll do anything to advance his career, no matter how demeaning or dishonorable.

If McCarthy does become Speaker, he is going to have to veer far to the right to meet the demands of the House Freedom Caucus
...After being promised a "red wave," some Republicans will look for a reason to dump McCarthy. Tuesday’s weak tea at the ballot box could justify some GOP opposition to McCarthy for Speaker. Moreover, if McCarthy does become Speaker, he is going to have to veer far to the right to meet the demands of the House Freedom Caucus on a host of issues – ranging from impeachments to funding the government to raising the debt ceiling. Freedom Caucus members – like Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, R-Ga., – will demand a pound of flesh from McCarthy in exchange for them supporting him for Speaker...

...In fact, McCarthy’s first challenge could come in mid-December. That is when a bill to avert a government shutdown comes due. If McCarthy does not take a stand against that bill and do what the Freedom Caucus wants, those same members could hold that against him if and when he stands for Speaker on the House floor on Jan. 3.

As we say, it will be "about the math" when it comes to McCarthy.

If the MAGAs take the house, their margin will be so thin that Kevin will need every vote every time a proposal comes up. He'll have no "bully gavel", rather, they will bully him.

So he is following the Pelosi path to becoming speaker.

Hence, why I think Kevin will sell his soul for the job.

I do not know, but he has been pretty useless up till now and there is no indication that this will change.

This shit show is going to be fun to watch.

Not unlike a trump/DeathSantis primary debate.

He'll have to buy it back from trump for that Mar-a-lago bitch boy stunt after 1/6.
trump lost quite a bit of shine last night. The question is...will Republicans finally find the courage to flush him?

It turns out that every MAGA loon that Democrats funded in the primaries, lost last night. There was quite a bit of criticism when it looked like it would backfire

30% of this country still thinks twump is "g*d". He'll run, but he'll lose to DeShitStain in the GOP primary, then twump, who will never accept a loss and doesn't give a shit about anyone but himself, will run as an Independant, split the vote, and we'll have Democratic president Oprah? Whoever the dems run will win the general, thanks to fat Donnie.

While Trump still has a 40% favorability rating, that doesn't mean that many people believe he is God. Just that he's more favorable than a Democrat.

As Althea is proving to me today, Democrats are just as authoritarian and bullying as the RWNJs.

I say no, there are others with the long knives out, Steve Scalise being one

It'll be determined by who can suck off Trump's micropenis the longest, thereby securing the support of Congressional Trumpers.

While I still think Kevin will take it, he'll certainly pay a price for it. One price may be impeaching Biden in a Show Trial.

Nope.

Kevin will bend the knee and kiss the (cock)ring for Trump's support.
trump will announce his '24 run this week.

By the time the new House session starts next year, trump might not be as kissable as he used to be.

The election is over. trump lost. Republicans might just see the light. Getting primaried by trump only hurts the party. It might just sink in?
