This is the Democrat's definition of democracy

Illinois bill Amendment 1 is what the Democrats would define as democracy. It is a travesty of a combination of oligarchy, totalitarianism, and the worst of Socialism.

Simply put, Amendment 1 makes it impossible for any reason to reduce the benefits of public employees and public union members. This means their now extremely generous retirement and benefit packages can never be lessened, only increased. If the state's tax system can't support that as it is, then taxes will virtually and automatically be increased on residents across the board until they can cover the costs.

It makes public pension plans unaccountable and unaffordable. Since layoffs are incredibly difficult to do, what the state would be forced into doing is simply not hiring to eventually reduce the workforce in the face of unaffordable pension costs.

It is a disaster in the making that will certainly cause many rich people and corporations to flee Illinois if it passes.

This sort of shit is common in Europe. Greece's economy is tanked because of similar rules.

Poor thread title. You could say it's their idea of governance, but even that would be a narrow conclusion.

Everyone's idea of democracy should be that if you don't like actions like this, you vote out the people who engaged in them. That's democracy.

The Revolution changes the definition of words as they go to suit their purposes, they are destroying the language in the effort to get what they want, they are abusing us in order to get what they want.

So, like any good Leftist, you quibble over the words, but never address the content.

The Democrats in Illinois are trying to enshrine in the state constitution an irrevocable right for state workers and associated unions to never have to worry that their pensions might be reduced because the state can't pay for them. Instead, the bill calls for taxes to rise to pay for those pensions regardless of the cost.

If you lived in Illinois and were fairly rich, and the state doubled, even tripled, your taxes, what would you do? If you were a corporation there and that happened, what would you do?

Well, when they finally go tits up in bankruptcy the problem will be solved.

But that won't happen if there's a Democrat run federal government. Then, the Democrats will simply print more money and give it to Illinois to cover the losses...

They tell you what words you are allowed to use, and what words mean....you are not allowed to disagree or refuse their demands.

Stop attacking the working class.

I'm not a leftist - and it was an incorrect choice of words. I'm not "quibbling" - I'm pointing out how woefully misleading the OP title is.

Stop attacking the working class.

How is what I stated "attacking the working class?" Should public pensions be enshrined into law where they can never be reduced, and must be funded fully by taxes regardless of how much that costs the public?

Or, should union membership be forced on workers?

The people attacking the working class are radical Leftists, like you.

After a while you can't print it fast enough work. See Zimbabwe.
We're a lot closer to that than people realize.

You're trying to undermine everything that unions have fought for these past hundred years. Without unions, we wouldn't have things like sick leave or paid time off or overtime. We wouldn't have OSHA. By voting Republican, you're voting against your own interests in favor of the capitalist class.

I can gaurentee you, as a democrat, have never been in a union nor are you a union employer. Just a typical welfare collecting democrat. Try and prove me wrong you hypocritical useless democrat cunt.

You got the benefits without working in a union Yeah, you are a Repub, stealing what the Dems won and thinking that makes you superior.and you find that a good and fair thing. Unions fought and got the 40-hour work week, vacations, healthcare, safer working conditions, end of child labor, unemployment benefits, and many others. You stole all those from unioners who fought and died so they exist today. That's winning for rightys.

OSHA was created by Richard Nixon. So was the EPA...

Unions haven't really done shit for workers.

Minimum wage? Not unions.
Mine safety? Nixon again with the MSHA

Unions primarily have pushed for higher wages to get higher dues so their leadership could grease politicians for more power for themselves.

Paid sick leave and health insurance were things started in WW 2 in lieu of wages because of FDR imposing wage and price controls on industry.

So you know nothing about history. Okay. Keep bending over for the capitalist class in hopes that you, too, might be able to join them. (Hint: you won't even join them). You clearly have Stockholm Syndrome since you keep defending capitalist interests against your own.
