There were 7 million more popular votes. He got 81 million. They may be stupid but when compared to the alternative they made a logical choice. Today, they are more confident they voted correctly to keep out a person who would violate his oath to uphold the Constitution and try to overturn an election--beyond what any president has ever done.
When those working closely with him believe he can no longer do the job. They need the VP and a majority of the cabinet.
