Stalling these trials is a lawyer trick- like Trump uses to his advantage- and it never benefits the victims- ONLY THE CRIMINALS!

These laws must change and there must be speedier trials to resolve these problems!

Non violent offenders should be able to go free until trial.

No violent offense should be ignored, and should entail prohibitive bail depending on the level of violence. A drunken bar room brawl is not the same as an ex husband stalking his family.

We do indeed have a big problem in this nation, and a lot of it is being encouraged for political gain.

sadly, stuff like this was happening LONG before "cashless bail" became somewhat of a mandate. Judges determined that without a past criminal record and such, a lot of domesticate cases without sufficient evidence would result in the husband being released without bail....and too many cases resulted in similar fatalities like the one here.

Many women's groups and legal advocates have fought over the years to tighten up laws regarding domestic abuse. Still, given this climate of partisan hype, the local GOP reelection folks will milk it for all it's worth.

So apparently in New York because of the Governor's stupid idea of cashless bail you can now savagely beat and threaten to kill your wife to the point she is so scared of you that she wears a bullet proof vest. Then you cannot be required to have bail so you are let go free to shoot your wife in the face and killer in front of her young kids. Now we have traumatized young kids without a mommy. This is the DEMOCRATS FAULT.

The guy had a past history of domestic violence he would have never got out without bail under the old system. The Democrats put this new system in place that allowed this crime to happen.



On March 2, 2000, Bennefield, at age 22, ordered his ex-girlfriend and a second woman out of their car on the Kensington Expressway, court records state. He was armed with a shotgun.

Bennefield kidnapped them by forcing them into his vehicle, and then led police on a high-speed chase. The second woman jumped out of the car to escape.

His ex-girlfriend told Bennefield that she was pregnant with his child “for fear that he would otherwise kill her,” court records state. She was not injured in the incident.

While awaiting trial on Sept. 16, 2000, Bennefield escaped from the Erie County Correctional Facility in Alden by climbing over a 15-foot wall and through razor wire. He eventually surrendered to law enforcement after a 19-hour manhunt.

Later that same month, Bennefield pleaded guilty to two felony counts of second-degree attempted kidnapping and to first-degree escape.

BTW NBC New York isn't quite as sure of a Democrat win as you are.
