Russians knock out 30% of Ukraine's power grid with rockets and drones

Shocking. Where's the report on Ukrainian war crimes ?

UN hadn't found enough to warrant an investigation.

Even Amnesty International says Ukrainian violations of the rules of war don't compare to what Russia is doing.

I knew you would be thrilled and tittilated at stories of rape and torture committed by your invading army.

It seems reasonable to assume that the next targets will be the remaining 70%

It would be difficult to knock out the remaining 70%, because it is very disperse. They hit the 30% that is centralized, but the centralized part of that is relatively easily replaced. Ukraine will be up and running completely in a few weeks.

If Ukraine had not switched from the Russian grid to the European grid, they would have lost the war months ago. Everyone predicted that it would take at least two years to switch, and would therefore be impossible. Biden led an effort to get it done in two weeks. It is one of the miracles of modern leadership.

So publish the Russian investigation.

How would they know if there hasn't been an investigation ? ( Er........gotcha again, bugler )

It's shit like this that warrants your exposure as a pseudo-patriotic tub-thumping hypocrite.

With what as defensive shield ?

With what as defensive shield ?

The Russians have been afraid of flying their air force over Ukraine, because it has a pretty good defensive shield. Trying to strike each substation in a large country would be virtually impossible with air supremacy, but is actually impossible without even air power.

Yes, Ukraine has Russian S300s. Everybody in the world respects those.

Financial toll on Ukraine of downing drones ‘vastly exceeds Russian costs’

The cost to Ukraine of downing the “kamikaze” drones being fired at its cities vastly exceeds the sums paid by Russia in sourcing and launching the cheap Iranian-made technology, analysis suggests.

Something has to give- and it won't be the EU taxpayer for much longer.

So you are cheering the Russian attacks on civilians and civilian infrastructure which is a war crime. Why am I not surprised?

I think the war has escalated to a degree that THE US and other NATO countries should be supplying the UKRAINE with missile capabilities of hitting soft targets in RUSSIA.

Until the two countries are playing by the same rules, and until the Russian people are being cut off of their utilities, and food, etc, the UKRAINE cannot win a war with their hands tied behind their backs.

I say the Ukraine should be lobbing some serious bombing over into Russia and do a little destruction of their own.

What is good for the GOOSE- is good for the GANDER!

No. We don't want to support war crimes which is what you are describing.

What we are likely to see as the war goes on is similar to what happened in Russia during the Chechen war. Individuals or groups will start to carry out attacks in Russia and some will be on civilians or other soft targets. We are already seeing that to some extent: the attacks on recruiters and trainees, the attack on the Crimean bridge. The problem Russia has is they are creating a large population that can blend into Russia and move at will and plan and execute attacks with little way for Russia to stop them without cracking down on their own population.

I am not saying go after the civilians lives- I'm just saying, if Russia is knocking out electric power in the Ukraine- The Ukranians should be knocking out electric power in Russia.

It's like getting a taste of their own medicine- an eye for an eye- two can play this knocking out electricity game sort of deal!

If I were a Ukrainian, I would want to send a missile that would topple the Kremlin- as a first choice to let them know two can play this game of destroying a country!

Electricity is civilian infrastructure.

Tell me about military-grade electricity.

Either electricity is a military target in Ukraine AND Russia or it is a civilian target in both. I am saying it is civilian so Russia is committing a war crime and we shouldn't encourage Ukraine to commit the same war crime.

Are you arguing that Ukraine can target Russian electricity as a military target?

The notion that the military does not use the national power grid is a nonsense.

So you think it is acceptable for Ukraine to knock out the entire Russian power grid?

The Russian military uses the national power grid. You can expect that , in conventional warfare, combatants will attack the enemy's infrastructure- as did the US in illegal attacks in other theaters.
Of course- as we've been repeatedly assured, any attack on Russia proper will result in nuclear strikes on the attackers. So no- it is not acceptable to attack Russia.

'Iran, Russia reject claims on use of Tehran-supplied drones in Ukraine

Iran and Russia have rejected baseless allegations that Tehran supplied Moscow with a fleet of drones for use in the war in Ukraine.

Speaking to reporters after a Security Council closed-door meeting on Wednesday, Iran’s ambassador and permanent representative to the United Nations Amir Saeed Iravani categorically rejected “unfounded and unsubstantiated” claims that Tehran has transferred UAVs to Moscow for use in the war in Ukraine.

“The Islamic Republic of Iran has taken a clear and consistent position on the situation in Ukraine which has been pronounced since the start of the conflict,” he said.

The Islamic Republic, he added, has always emphasized that all UN members must fully respect the principles enshrined in the United Nations Charter as well as applicable international law, including sovereignty, independence, unity and territorial integrity.

As a country that has experienced eight years of imposed war and aggression, Iran has “consistently advocated for peace and the immediate end to the conflict in Ukraine,” urging the engaged parties to exercise restraint, avoid escalation of tension and engage in a meaningful process for settling the dispute through peaceful means while also addressing the root causes of the situation, the diplomat said.'

Russian air strikes hit energy facilities in western Ukraine
Russian military forces carried out another missile attack targeting energy facilities in western Ukraine, the country’s power grid operator said today.

In a message on Telegram, Ukrenergo said that the “scale of damage is comparable or may exceed the consequences of the attack on October 10-12”.

It said that repair crews are starting to repair the facilities after the rocket attack, but that restrictions are in place as they try to restore the electricity supply.

Currently, restrictions on energy supply have been forcibly applied in Kyiv, Kyiv, Chernihiv, Cherkasy, Zhytomyr, Sumy, Kharkiv, Poltava, Dnipropetrovsk, Zaporizhzhya and Kirovohrad regions.

With winter fast approaching, Russia forces have been targeting Ukraine’s energy infrastructure for more than a week.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said that 30% of the country’s power stations had been destroyed in the Russian bombardments.

"In a message on Telegram, Ukrenergo said that the “scale of damage is comparable or may exceed the consequences of the attack on October 10-12”."

That being true- it's far more than 30% out of commission.
