Congress finds Trump charged secret service over $1.4 million for hotel rooms

What did Trump facility charge the white house for events held there ? Trump can use his own space so he may have been saving the country considerably for that/

They stayed at his property, that’s the proof he profited, who else would profit?

There is a cost associated with their stay, be it utility payments, room service, or whatever. Profit is on top of that cost. Was there profit or not?

Biden personally profits from a $500,000 wall being built at taxpayer expense around his property. That much is self-evident.

It looks like Eric Trump lied to the American people.

I wonder what charity Trump donated his salary to? The Donald J Trump pockets?

You guys don't know how per diem works, do you? A secret service agent makes about $60K a year. The per diem for NYC is $286 lodging and $79 for meals and incidentals. If Trump stays in one of his hotels, the agents have to stay there too. But if they had to pay for those rooms out of pocket, that $60K salary ain't going too far, is it? One of two things is happening:

1) The secret service is on an entirely different GSA per diem schedule than your run of the mill government flunky (which I suspect). Or 2) They are issued a government credit card and they pay the bill with that, and they file a travel claim when they get back in the office. Some GSA bean counter sorts out the true cost and cuts them a check that they use to pay the credit card bill (and God help you if you spend that check on guns and hookers and motorcycle parts, because that's a criminal offence).

#2 is the way we did it 30 years ago, and it was a royal pain in the ass. Not to mention the credit card they issued was a fucking "diner's club" card that almost no one honored. They MUST have modernized the system by now.

But the big point is, do you think obama and the tater head stay in the Motel 6 and travel in up-armored Toyota Priuses?

This whole thing is more bull shit, but it spun you up, didn't it? Mission accomplished.

They would get a waiver for the additional expense as a necessity for performance of their duties. Actually, government employees get a Bank of America Visa card now...

The big hassle with using the gov B of A card is that if the bill comes before you get paid your per diem, B of A is all over you like stink on shit to pay up regardless of ability to pay outside of getting the per diem you are supposed to be using to pay it. Then they hit your credit score for that, and it takes months of fighting with the assholes to fix everything.

Yuk. Sounds like things haven't changed much.

the question that needs to be answered is what is the average room rate in the immediate vicinity ?

how else do you know if its a deal or not ?

So you think every hotel room in DC is almost $1200 per night? And that $1185 per night is a free room or just the cost as Eric claimed?

Room service isn't included in a room rate. Are you saying the cost of utilities for one night of a hotel room in DC is $1185? How do the other hotels get by with charging less than $300 per night? Do they make up the $800 per room loss per night in volume? There is no way in hell that a hotel can charge $1185 for a room and not make any profit on that. At worst they are using that one room to pay for all the other rooms not rented out that night.

Trump enriches himself at the cost of taxpayers. Dog bites man.

This isn't even a headline any longer. Trump is a grifter. Unlike most grifters though, he hasn't had to move on to his next marks, because the ones he has now are so fucking stupid they haven't figured it out yet. They keep sending him money.

The problem is that Trump was charging MORE than the $286 per night for rooms while claiming he was giving the rooms to the SS for free or just his cost.

The MAGA militia are floating umpteen innuendos about Biden profiting off of Hunter’s dealing, shouting for investigations cause big Bobby Bolinski said so, but here we have actual proof of Trump personally profiting to the tune of millions off of the Office of President and they are fine with it, the hypocrisy couldn’t be any more revealing

And the thousands dollars a night doesn’t even include what he charged the Secret Service for the golf carts they needed to escort him around the golf course
