The Dow was at 34,715.39 on on 1/20/21

The market does not impact the economy. It reflects the economy. The market is overreacting to Powell's announcement. Bargains are now everywhere, especially for someone like me who invests for income. What happened in 2008 was far worse than this. In fact, this is just another adjustment that happens from time to time. It's laughable that people with no clue how to invest can't wait to Trumpet this news and blame Biden. These are the same people who were angry that the Fed propped up the stock market. They just like whining. Experienced investors know there is absolutely no need to panic.

Really?

And what part of a 'depression' or 'record deflation' do you consider is good for an economy?

'The recession of 1920–1921 was characterized by extreme deflation, the largest one-year percentage decline in around 140 years of data.'

Ever hear of the Roaring Twenties? The US started its rise to empire during WWI, but it was WWII that sealed the deal. The US economy is based on war.

That's contributing to the big push for WW3. Until now, world war has been good for the US economy.

the interesting part is that both Russia and China also need a war to justify money printing and war powers.

Note any similarity to the three sides continually at war in "1984" ?

at least one of the three have avoided dis-arming the populace so maybe we can still exit out of the grand passion play being performed now.

China and Russia are not thinking this small, they are out to subjugate the West and promote the glory of the New Chinese Empire.

How many fluctuations has the stock market had during your lifetime? Did you freak out every time it occurred?

“The most recent bear market, which began on March 11, 2020, was triggered by the COVID pandemic. The Dow Jones Average fell from nearly 30,000 to under 19,000 but rebounded after barely a month as traders looked forward to an economic rebound.”

You may have proven that Russia and China are part of the global capitalist system, keep growing or die. I am convinced the capitalists will side with China.
