When the cold huddled mass (some children), yearning to be free, showed up in Martha's Vineyard unannounced without money or food or a place to stay the people there proved themselves.

They took these refugees in, fed them, got them legal representation and quickly jumped into action finding them housing, food and jobs. They welcomed these people into their communities.


A sadistic Governor desperate for more power sent these refugees there as a kind of sick joke, victimizing these people by making no arrangements for their arrival or care... Not telling anyone they were on the way. Lying to them to get them on the airplane. What a scum this governor is. If there were a hell he would rot in it.
 
“They were told there was a surprise present for them, and that there would be jobs and housing awaiting for them when they arrived. This was obviously a sadistic lie,” said Rachel Self, a Boston immigration attorney who was assisting with the migrants’ cases.
 
Migrants in the group said they’d agreed to fly to Massachusetts on the promise of jobs and assistance but didn’t realize they were bound for Martha’s Vineyard. No one on the island knew they were coming and, according to their attorneys, they’d been given falsified U.S. addresses by immigration officials, perhaps ensuring that they’d be deemed in the country illegally.
 
Local church members and politicians rushed to help. Inside St. Andrews, volunteers walked in and out all day in shifts. They accepted food. They took in bags of candy. They accepted warm clothes. Staff from the Salvation Army pledged to stay “as long as it takes.”
 
These people were fleeing oppression looking for a better life and they came to America, like most of our ancestors.

The people of MV stuffed them in a church and managed to scrape up rice crispies for them to eat. White woke liberals went to work quick though. Those immigrants are now off the island and at Joint Base Cape Cod as Baker actually fucking activated the Massachusetts National Guard to take them because this was a "crisis". Here, let me break that down for you. Martha's Vineyard handles roughly 100,00 tourists plus a year on that island. Yet somehow they could not take care of 50 people. It was so appalling the white woke liberals on that island that someone got the Governor to activate the National Guard and get them off that island. And into the same shitty shelters they put Afghan refugees in temporarily. That is the real truth. White woke liberals are for anything as long as those black and brown folk do not move next to them. And if you are wondering, the Obama's did not do shit to help those 50 people. Hell I am sure they were one of the many on that island screaming at Baker to get them the fuck off it.

Not a fan of either Abbott or DeSantis, but they'll keep sending thousands of illegals north until the problem is fixed.

Which is cheaper; maintaining illegals in state for years on end or a bus ticket?

I think DeSantis miscalculated on this one. He wanted a good story on Fox & to appeal to the base - but I seriously doubt blatant stunts like this appeal to independents. Or to the large Venezualan population in FL.

Agreed; three Republican Presidents and three Democrat Presidents plus multiple swaps of power in Congress...and the needle on Immigration Reform hasn't budged since.

IMO, this is just one of the reasons most Americans believe our nation is moving in the wrong direction.

First

As far as we know, these 'migrants' are illegal immigrants (until I see unbiased, factual proof to the contrary).
Yet, the left calls them 'migrants' - to make them sound more 'friendly and legal'.
This is childish and clearly, mostly political gamesmanship on the part of the left.


Second

I think DeSantis is an idiot.
And I think flying the 50+ migrants was NOTHING but a rather, expensive stunt to win votes.

However, now the left is acting lie it was some kind of hideous, INCREDIBLY cruel act.
Which it CLEARLY was not.

But, by DeSantis dropping them off in Martha's Vineyard?
He was essentially, setting them free...inside America (which I am not gaga about - but whatever).
That meant they were no longer the government's responsibility to feed/house.

In other words...there was NOTHING 'cruel' about what DeSantis did.
In fact, he probably did the illegal immigrants/migrants a HUGE favor.

I know two Cuban people who are Trump fans that are upset with DeSantis over this because it’s how their parents were treated when they immigrated from Cuba.

Besides, why would they be given court dates and then shipped WAY out of the jurisdiction?
That makes little sense.

I suspect they were processed and given 'preliminary hearings' for processing.
Which are FAR different then actual 'court dates' to determine landed status.
