Let's say you were in Eastern Ukraine on February 11th, and US Press Secretary Psaki warned you to get out before the war started. You would completely ignore her great advice, because you find her "too ugly to look at or listen to?" Really?
She is fine looking, and more importantly, surviving a war is not about finding supermodels to listen to.

If you limit tanks to roads, it makes them sitting ducks. It pushes them into easy kill zones.
You want to be able to move tanks quickly along a broad front, and have them chose the locations they move to, rather than having it prescribed by roads. That means you want the soil to not be too muddy.
I know combat engineers who live this stuff, but I am not one. I do know they study these things, and know a lot more than you(or I) do.
You are correct. There is a lot of footage of Russian tanks on roads being destroyed by Ukrainians. The whole purpose of tanks is to get off the roads.

That image brings me back... Notice the gap in the NATO defenses between Estonia and Norway. Now with Finland and Sweden in NATO, there is no gap. Republicans kept telling us that Biden could not accomplish this, but they underestimated Biden.

That claim mostly falls apart. China left its people in Ukraine, while everyone else was evacuating. They like to be seen as omniscient, and this one took them by surprise. There is no way they pre-approved making themselves look stupid.
The Chinese reaction veered all over the place in the first few weeks. They had no clue.
