They are not to be kept at his home, the government has a secure place for those documents. Then there is the case of the most top secret US documents he squirreled away, documents again he is not entitled to have. The man is under DOJ investigation for violating the espionage act. What did he plan to do with those documents. Who did he give them to, who did he sell them to, who did he show them to?

There is nothing to defend, the man is most likely a criminal of the highest order.

I think that's one thing that makes them so insane. They talk like their only opponent is "the loony left", but NO ONE likes their ideas.. that's like 70% of our nation who knows they're all fucking evil maniacs!

They are unpopular and they know it, so their only solution is to claim everyone else is fucked up - and you can tell by this thread how well that's going :)

Correct. And you-and you may be at risk in those cases of mishandling classified information.

And Mike, this is a question that circles around this relentlessly. Is there a formalized process for a president to declassify classified information?

Unfortunately not. There are statutes that allow the president to declassify information. The Supreme Court has upheld those statutes a number of times. But those statutes do not outline a step-by-step process for the president to do so. So it's murky. I actually know a case from the Bush White House where President Bush declassified part of the 2002 Iraq WMD national intelligence estimate so Scooter Libby could use that information at his grand jury testimony. And President Bush did that without ever telling the intelligence community. So presidents can do this, right? But there's an appropriate way to do it and the appropriate way to do it is to paper it over, right? To have the president sign a document that says I hereby declassify this information.

Get this. Truth Denier actually claimed: "Anything the President has in his possession is no longer classified".

The guy just isn't smart enough to differentiate the truth from bullshit.
 
Show us where a former President who is no longer President has the authority to declassifying documents after he has left the White House
