Erdogan pulls rug from under Putin

How is China affected by what Putin is doing in Ukraine?
As far as COVID, they’re just hurting themselves, same as what authoritarian dims wanted (still want?) - exert government power in putting down the masses.

Global economy. Remember when Bush the Lesser signed the Biofuel bill and we started burning our corn? Supply and demand. It pushed the price of corn up to the point those who could barely pay for it could no longer afford it.

Sorry, dude, but only fucking morons and the mentally ill believe COVID is a hoax. It's a global pandemic. Notice how China, being an authoritarian shithole, used strong-arm tactics to shut down the virus. Why would they do that unless necessary? They don't give a fuck how many Chinese die since they have over a billion of them. So why the measures? To protect their economy.

no.
The August 17 announcement that Israel and Turkey will normalize diplomatic relations and exchange ambassadors comes not long after Turkey improved ties with Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates (UAE). The Turkish government has determined that de-escalation with Israel and other regional powers better serves its interests as it confronts economic problems at home and focuses on core national security concerns, such as Kurdish nationalism and relations with Cyprus and Greece.

It's not uncommon to share intelligence against Iran with Israel by it's Sunni neighbors.
But im not up on any joint security agreements actually in place
Walt is trying for Lurch level stupidity. :attaboy:

^^^ Suicideboy can only troll when confronted with facts. Sad, but that's why he's "the dumb one" in the group....and most likely to become a useful idiot with a truck bomb.

And you thought that referred to which country?.....

Holy shit, man! Like 50 people have beat up on me for this. For the last fucking time:

I'M VERY SORRY EVERYONE THAT I DIDN'T KNOW TURKEY HAD BEEN IN NATO SINCE THE 50'S. I CONCEDE THE POINT AND I THANK ALL OF YOU FOR "SHOWING ME THE LIGHT".

Now give it a fucking rest.

That's okay. I knew you were young and inexperienced the first day you logged onto JPP if you recall.

You forget that, as decrepit as some of JPP's geezers may be, they've all been around longer than you. LOL

what's un-european about hungary?

Both the Hungarians (Magyars) and the Turks were from Central Asia. They both moved into Europe a few centuries after the fall of the Western Roman Empire. They both use non-Indo-European languages. The Hungarians were a little later to Europe, and a little later to giving up paganism.

Except for a period between 2009 and 2016, Israel and Turkey always had diplomatic relations. It is impossible to give trump credit for original diplomatic relations being setup in 1950 (when he was 4 years old), or being reestablished when Obama was President. In 2018, ambassadors were expelled again, but embassies remained. That is the only thing that happened while trump was in office, and it was not good.

Turkey recognized Israel in 1949, and first exchanged legations in 1950. The legation was downgraded to a "Charge d’Affaires" in 1956, but normal diplomatic relations continued. In 1963, it was upgraded to a legation again. In 1980, Turkey upgraded all its legations to embassies with ambassadors, including Israel. Up until then, you had to be a close ally to get an ambassador. So technically, the first Turkish ambassador did not arrive until 1980, but diplomacy was normalized in 1950.

When Erdogan came to power in 2002, he immediate made relations closer. He referred to Israel as the closest non-NATO ally, and made a huge state visit in 2005. In 2006, Israeli Foreign Ministry referred to relations with Turkey by one word, "perfect", which was closer than even relations with the USA.

In 2009, things began to fall apart. By 2011, diplomatic relations were suspended. In 2016, they were unsuspended, and relations were normalized, again. Ambassadors were again exchanged. Later in 2018, ambassadors were withdrawn, but embassies remained. Now ambassadors are returning.
