Americans who worked hard to pay off student loans react to Biden's massive college d

then I want part of my house paid off, you should pay for that so i'm not cripped with debt

No shit.

IMO, this all started when Bush and Congress started paying off the survivors of 9/11. WTF? Tragedies happen. Help people get on their feet but just giving away money because life happens or, worse, they fuck themselves up, is not the way to go.

After the housing market crashed, there was a hue and cry to forgive mortgages (i.e. bail out the mortgage companies and give away free houses). The people who were most in trouble were the speculators on ARMs who, once the market crashed, were left underwater with payments they couldn't pay.

Unlike the speculators, I knew hard times happen and bought a reasonable home that I planned to live in with a 15-year fixed rate mortgage. I spent reasonably, but the government bailout money was being spent toward the foolish and the fucking greedy.

IMO, this student loan bullshit is simply Democrats buying votes at the expense of those who spent their money more wisely. I lived at home and worked part-time for my first two years of college and still worked in my last two years, graduating with $45K debt (in today's dollars).

Yes, college is more expensive these days but the Biden Buyout doesn't do a damn thing to fix that. In fact, it'll probably make it worse.

Majorie Taylor Green had 183k in her PPP loans forgiven, and she is screaming about some 24 year old getting 10k in debt forgiven

They're fucking hypocrites but it still doesn't make the current path correct. Democrats and Republicans racing to outspend each other before the Treasury is broken isn't a good idea.

Congress has the purse strings and they enacted the PPP. The President didn't unilaterally enact the PPP. Congress and the government closed businesses because of COVID that damaged those businesses the PPP was an attempt to make those business whole. College students voluntarily enter into debt with the hope of getting something of value, a degree. So the comparison of PPP loans and Student loans is a false comparison.

So you're okay with printing money as long as Congress approves? Isn't that why we have this?: https://www.visualcapitalist.com/timeline-150-years-of-u-s-national-debt/

Depends on their field. If too many people want to go into the same fields there is not room in those departments and other areas of the school go without students. There are many other considerations. Admissions can be color blind but not limited to GPA and SAT. Those considerations are sometimes more subjective.

Similar considerations go into hiring. A person whose paper qualifications are the best might have characteristics undesirable for the job. I have been on many hiring committees and we sometimes did not bring in the very best candidate for an interview because we knew they would never take a job at a smaller school with less pay. Sometimes they just wanted a bargaining chip for their current employer by showing them other offers

based upon the reactions of some of my liberal friends, and younger people, this is an awesome thing and they want more of it. they will be voting democrat the rest of their lives, so we will indeed see history repeat itself.

“A democracy cannot exist as a permanent form of government. It can only exist until the voters discover that they can vote themselves largesse from the public treasury. From that moment on, the majority always votes for the candidates promising the most benefits from the public treasury with the result that a democracy always collapses over loose fiscal policy, always followed by a dictatorship. The average age of the world's greatest civilizations has been 200 years. These nations have progressed through this sequence: From bondage to spiritual faith; From spiritual faith to great courage; From courage to liberty; From liberty to abundance; From abundance to selfishness; From selfishness to apathy; From apathy to dependence; From dependence back into bondage.”

Indeed.

Democrats can not survive without the dependency slugs who vote for them into perpetuity.

Translation: God Damn Democracy!!! Whites should lead the world as they've always done!!!

There are downsides to democracy just like there is to HOAs, unions and other groups based upon majority rule.

That is not discrimination on the basis of race. College admissions or employers set the criteria for admissions/employment. If a white student is selected into the music program to play in the marching band and jazz quartet and is the best musician, that is not discrimination against an Asian student who has better math scores. Music ability and not GPA or test scores is the basis for admission. The guy who gets a football scholarship is not discriminating against an Asian student who does not play sports. They are not competing against each other. College admissions is based on much more than GPA and test scores.

We shall see what the Supreme court says about it.

The income limit for college students to have their loans dismissed is $125,000. I guess that doesn't apply to PPP loans for members of Congress.

We shall see what the Supreme court says about it.

That has been occurring for years and was not affected by the Supreme Court affirmative action decisions. They said you cannot use quotas or any factor that eliminates any group; example, 1.0 point for being a minority.

Colleges have different criteria for different types of students to serve the needs of the college.

Affirmative action is reverse discrimination. Besides would you have a brain surgery by a brain surgeon that got into med school and residency and fellowship with lower academic standards?

you know you've posted truth when people resort to racism, with absolutely no proof whatsoever.....

Penn Medical School Expands Minority-Candidate Program That Does Not Require MCAT

Affirmative action does not require a person be hired or admitted with lower standards or because of their race. That is done by the school or institution to look good, but it is not a part of affirmative action.

I bet you have some doctors who have lower scores than some of their classmates. Does that make them less capable?

I am not defending affirmative action, only stating that it does not require what people think it does. The abuses come from administrators who impose those things over selection committee recommendations or other factors.

Affirmative action neither requires more minorities be hired nor does it insure more minority representation.
