Except you are wrong. Monkeypox definitely can be transmitted from monkeys, and its main reservoir is almost certainly monkeys. Whether it is often transmitted from monkeys is an unanswered question.

I found out BEFORE the CDC went public, like the WHO JUST DID ,ADMITTING THAT 98%+ CASES ARE MEN HAVING SEX WITH MEN. SEEMS LIKE THAT WOULD BE THE LEAD ON ANY PUBLIC STATEMENTS ABOUT IT, IF STOPPING IT IS THE GOAL

Dr. Fauci talked all about the risk of spreading the disease sexually, and admitted that most of the cases in the US currently are among Gay Men.

Many diseases can still be transmitted through Sexual activity, but not limited to spreading only by sexual activity, and not necessarily referred to as STD's!

But in my opinion, which isn't worth 2 cents, as I am not a doctor, it is accurate to call any disease an STD "IF" it can be transmitted at all through sexual contact.

SO, based on that, even Covid could be considered an STD. Having that said- you can even catch fleas through having sex with someone having fleas!

And Lymes disease isn't spread by sexual contact so yes it would be ridiculous to call it a STD..

There is no credible scientific evidence that Lyme disease is spread through sexual contact. Published studies in animals do not support sexual transmission (Moody 1991; Woodrum 1999), and the biology of the Lyme disease spirochete is not compatible this route of exposure (Porcella 2001).

And as public-health authorities investigate possible links to sexual or other close physical contact at a Pride event in the Canary Islands, a sauna in Madrid, and other gay venues in Europe, government officials are trying hard not to single out a group that endured terrible stigma at the height of America’s AIDS crisis.

“Experience shows that stigmatizing rhetoric can quickly disable evidence-based response by stoking cycles of fear, driving people away from health services, impeding efforts to identify cases, and encouraging ineffective, punitive measures,” Matthew Kavanagh, the deputy executive director of the Joint United Nations Programme on HIV/AIDS, recently said. For many years, following the outbreak of HIV, the fear of being judged or shamed has dissuaded some gay men from being tested.

~But as a gay man who studies the history of infectious disease, I worry that public-health leaders are not doing enough to directly alert men who have sex with men about monkeypox. Gay men are not the only people at risk, but they do need to know that, right now, the condition appears to be spreading most actively within their community.
