It's a process. First, martyring Trump will create more division, not lessen it.

Second, it's best to try and convict all the smaller fish first, such as the NINE Republicans who asked Trump for pardons, before going after bigger fish.

Yes, in all cases states had that right to do so, including a number of red states, which you never speak of. That is exactly why, in dozens of court cases, not a single judge ruled in favor of the plaintiffs.
