After members of the far-right Oath Keepers extremist group stormed the U.S. Capitol on Jan 6, 2021, their leader called someone on the phone with an urgent message for then-President Donald Trump, another extremist told investigators.

While gathered in a private suite at the Phoenix Park Hotel, an Oath Keeper member says he heard their leader, Stewart Rhodes, repeatedly urge the person on the phone to tell Trump to call upon militia groups to fight to keep the president in power.

“I just want to fight,” Rhodes said after hanging up with the person, who denied Rhodes’ appeal to speak directly to the Republican president, court records say.

Cheney confirms committee will share clips of Cipollone's testimony

Congresswoman Liz Cheney, the Republican vice-chair of the January 6 committee, confirmed that the panel will share clips from Pat Cipollone’s interview with investigators during today’s hearing.

Cipollone, who previously served as Donald Trump’s White House counsel, spoke to the committee behind closed doors for more than eight hours on Friday.

“If you’ve watched these hearings, you’ve heard us call for Mr Cipollone to come forward to testify,” Cheney said. “He did. And Mr Cipollone’s testimony met our expectations.”

Cheney: 'Trump cannot escape responsibility by being willfully blind'

Congresswoman Liz Cheney, the Republican vice-chair of the January 6 committee, said the panel’s first six hearings have shown how Donald Trump’s campaign advisers and senior administration officials repeatedly told him there was no evidence of widespread fraud in the 2020 election.

So, Cheney said, the strategy for defending Trump’s actions has now shifted to arguing that the former president was manipulated by his campaign lawyers into embracing lies about the election.

“President Trump is a 76-year-old man. He is not an impressionable child. Just like everyone else in our country, he is responsible for his own actions and his own choices,” Cheney said.

There are no ties to Trump by organizations or white supremacists. There was no insurrection. There was no coup. There is no trial. There have been no criminal charges after 552 days of investigating this. There are no witnesses. There are no cross examinations.

This whole process is a farce. Much like the Mueller Russia Hoax. Much like the Ukraine Hoax and the first attempt to impeach Trump for the protests on Jan 6th.

This is nothing more than the desperate flailing of a party so inept and out of touch with reality that it still believes that the red tsunami coming in November is not of their making. You have to be incredibly dumb and ignorant to be this out of touch with reality. Most Americans are done with the bad Trump charade and attempts to besmirch the man just because you don't like his politics. Move on. :palm:
