The nation’s “best Governor”

Imagine if a Democrat were bullying private enterprise with political reprisals or bullying kids this way... They would freak.

It's particularly funny when you recall that many conservatives have accused liberals of a pro-mask "religion." That's really just a way of trying to troll the left, because they think they can get a rise out of them by calling things religions that clearly aren't religions (e.g., believing mainstream climate science is another example of something common on the left that the right derides as a "religion.") But, imagine for a moment it really were a religion. How would they react to a government official trying to bully children into removing a token of their religious faith, if that faith were one the right approved of -- like ridiculing the crucifix hanging around the neck of a kid and urging him to remove it, or trying to bully a Jewish kid into taking off his yarmulke?!

The utter lack of any principles on the right, these days, has become the defining characteristic of our political times.

Its telling to me that most of the Trumppers and non-Trumpper Republicans wont discuss this, they want to ignore it and pretend it does not exist.
I've worked with Special Olympics and special needs children for many years...many...My early involvement with SO swimming is part of the reason I chose to go into Special Education.... and teach and coach ....so I'd be happy to discuss it with you from that perspective...just let me know... Did you watch the opening ceremonies?

I am much more concerned with what he did to Disney and the Rays...

I'm not personally connected to either of those....You'd have to be specific.... So you're fine with the Special Olympics decision?

no, not fine with it, but I believe it is, to a lesser extent fascist.

In a society that hadn't gone off the deep end, the Republicans, in particular, would have considered his bullying of those children to be reprehensible. The idea of the government trying to override a family's decision in order to get a kid to expose himself to disease would be anathema to the old "family values" GOP. But, these days, the bullying is the point. They thrill at bullying behavior, even when it flies in the face of all their former supposed principles. Where previously they'd have hated government interfering in private choices like that, or business policies, now, so long at the politician comes across as enough of a dick, they LOVE government interfering in such matters.

It's disgusting. I see it as a backlash to the rest of the country's repugnance for public denigration, which they call "PC." They are now publicly shamed if they call someone the n-word, make disparaging comments about women, people of color, non-Christians, handicapped folk, gays, etc. It's obvious that many of them grew up in households where that kind of talk was just how it was. As you correctly pointed out, Trump released the Kraken of Incivility as well as the Bully Trolls.

What's not ok? To let the individual athletes and their parents decide what is best for them...They work very hard to qualify for these games, you know...

Are those the same "special needs children" that you used to call "thugs" -- but only the "inner city" ones? I'm not a bit surprised that you support Governor Bullyboy.

No one buys your fantasy career, Toxic. If you truly cared about these children, you would not be applauding a fascist bully's attempt to fine their organization millions of dollars, which would have bankrupted them. DeSantis pulled a purely political stunt to get across his message that COVID is a hoax and in his state you don't have to wear masks or be vaxxed. The requirement for vaccines to participant was a decision that was done for the safety and protection of these children and their families. It should have been left up to the organization/business, not a petty politician with an agenda.

Shame on you for supporting illness and death.

DeathSantis is a fascist, and the Republicans love it.

Yep. Even pretend special ed "teachers" support his death cult. BTW, Florida has twice the rate of new COVID infections currently as the next runner-up, per Worldometer.info.

For the government to make that decision for a non-government institution.

You're trying to nail Jello to a tree when trying to discuss anything with these fascism-supporters. This has nothing to do with "freedom" and "let the parents decide." It has to do with applauding a political hack trying to force private groups into compliance using the power of his office. As long as it's an (R) doing it, it's fine with them.

From the Special Olympics own website, regarding COVID and vaccines:

Beautiful, “copy and paste” takes a beating in the same thread and quickly jumps to another pseudonym to offer personal attacks, you really can’t make this stuff up

Ironic; arsecheese is the one getting the beating and thinks he is winning. You really are a low IQ dipshit aren't you arsecheese? :palm:

Yes. I see it at work, too. I work at what right-wingers might call a "woke" employer, despite being a fairly typical for-profit corporation. There's a lot of talk of "diversity, equity, and inclusion," and if you want your career to advance, you know better than to say anything that falls too far outside the realm of "polite behavior" when it comes to liberal social issues. For example, if a male coworker starts identifying as female and announces she/her pronouns, you'd be committing career suicide if you made a point of using he, him pronouns. And I know the right-wingers are bristling at that. They're furious about the fact they have to hold their tongues when it comes to such things. Some of them probably hate the fact they can't get away with telling Black jokes and using racial slurs, or that they can't hit on female coworkers, etc. And I think all that bitterness has to go somewhere. Trumpism gives them an outlet for their hate. It gets pent up at work and so it comes boiling out in the political sphere, where they're looking not just for a reactionary politician, but an asshole reactionary politician who goes out of his way to troll the people they hate, because they find that cathartic.
