A Third Grader Eyeing the Classroom Door

When those at this forum went to school, most of us anyway, no one worried about the door being locked to keep the class from getting gunned down. We force children today to endure that thought as a tradeoff for a wide open gun culture. Is it worth it?

We used to eye the clocks. Now they're eyeing the doors.

yes.

Earl groans when he feels pain, like many people. Like no one else at this forum, Earl announces his pain. He deserves credit for this one. It should be painful to envision today's third grader seeing his or her classroom door as a last
defense against the daily mortal danger.

bullshit. when I went to school there were fewer gun laws and people could actually buy machine guns and we never worried about someone breaking through the door to shoot us. your premise is bullshit

Back in my day if you wanted to kill a bunch of students you joined the National Guard like a REAL American!

Just kidding, I'm not old.

God, guns, gays, abortion. Meaningless debates.

Guns, never, doesn’t say much for us as a society if we allow little kids getting massacred by semiautomatic weapons to pass without notice. You are correct, nothing will ever be done, Sandy Hook proved that, but it still demands attention to point out the disgrace

Precisely. Guns haven't radically changed in the last 50 years, but American society has. There are massively more single-parent households. The quality of education has foundered. Punishment of children has become a joke and kids know it. Society has become emasculated. There's lots more, but the point is that society has changed for the worse and we are seeing the results of that today--including gun violence.

And way fewer guns

there is no correlation between more guns being out there and fewer incidents back in the 70s and 80s.............unless you're intimating that somehow guns started becoming imbued with evil entities that posses people causing them to go shoot up schools

Sure they have, just the sheer number of guns out there, more guns than people, and the easy access makes it possible for anyone who wants a gun to get a gun. Plus, can’t say I ever recall semiautomatic weapons being the rage

The “society has changed” theme is just a deflection off of the real problem, guns, and easy access to guns
