Unless this was enough to change the thinking of enough people to remain committed to doing something about this problem even after this story cycles out of the 'big news story.' David Brooks pointed out last night that every time there is another big tragedy, interest in doing something spikes and then drops back down; but it never drops as far back down as it was before the tragedy, so overall support for doing something grows nationally over time. So then the question becomes when is it enough?
We know that big money usually gets it's way in government despite what the people want, but not always. Yes, it seems like nothing is ever enough to push it over the top but the longer this goes without a solution, the more primed it becomes for something to finally give. Maybe this is the time.
Maybe the need for change grows until something like this pushes it over the top.

Same name, but a different board. On this one, the moderators have a stranglehold on the board. So do the members. Instead of thread bans, you can start a tPF thread and ban anyone from the thread at any time for no reason at all.
I left and was simultaneously banned from the board on Jan 7 when I started a thread with a link to the FBI website. There were members there that were calling for armed violence since the election. After it happened, I reported one guy and encouraged the board to do the same. It didn't go over well. (more to piss him off than because I thought it would actually do anything). I believe their reason for my permaban (after I left) was because 'I brought harm to the board'.
I did hear that it was a shit show for about a week. They shut down for a bit and changed the rules to end the violent posts. Some members who were encouraged to post inflammatory nonsense before, were banned for a short time and warned about the violence.
They really shit themselves when I told staff that I would not post on a board that encouraged the Jan. 6 attack, and the FBI would be calling.
That's a commie board. At the bottom of their homepage used to be a link the other commie sister sites.

This probably isn't it but he made the hackneyed argument about Chicago, citing the gun violence in spite of tough gun laws. Of course he didn't say that the guns aren't acquired in Chicago. You get them in Indiana, and Chicago doesn't live up to its reputation. There are cities in red states with lax gun laws that have more gun violence than Chicago. Anyway, for comparison you need comparables and the wide availability in the U.S. makes domestic comparisons not useful. Use European cities as a model.
