Just like old times

The Kremlin has started planting Soviet-style political commissars into Russian government ministries and state-owned companies to report back to the president's office on the "emotional state and mood" of staff. These "political officers" will also push Vladimir Putin's political agenda and ensure that support for his war in Ukraine stays on track.

"This idea … has become especially relevant. Similar work has already been carried out, but now it will be coordinated by the Kremlin's domestic political bloc," reported Russia's Kommersant newspaper.

Officially the so-called "special operation" is widely supported, but the Kremlin is still worried about dissent. Open criticism of the war, which Putin has said was necessary to defeat “Nazis”, is banned and talk of casualties is suppressed.

In another sign of how the official narrative is starting to dominate Russian society, textbook publishers have been told to delete any references to Ukraine.

“You can mention how we saved Kyiv, but it is no longer possible to talk about Ukraine as a country," one publishing source said. Another source said that his company has had to rewrite 15 per cent of their textbooks because of the order to delete references to Ukraine. "We are faced with the task of making it look as if Ukraine simply does not exist."

Wow, it's just like FL! About all you can say is the more things change, the more they stay the same. At least Vlad's open about his spies. State govt. employees in Alaska went through the same thing when $arah Palin was half-governor. She had snitches who reported any grumbling or criticism. Those who were guilty found themselves demoted, moved to an unpopular dept., or outright fired. One lady told me that they all felt like a load of bricks had been taken off their backs when the grifter quit.

Something about Reichwingers, authoritarianism, and the crushing of dissent that they just can't seem to get enough of.

The Republicans were glad she left as well, it’s why I can’t believe she’s running for office, again.

There's no question political oppression has increased in Russia since 2014, but I tend to be a little skeptical about how balanced and accurate the information is in British tabloids like the Telegraph.

It is my sincere hope that leftists continue on with this exact same behavior. And I have no doubt they will......it is who they are,...it is all they know. As the poll numbers keep dropping....dropping.....dropping....as everything is looking like a total BEATDOWN of epic historic proportion this coming fall they STILL cannot restrain themselves from shooting themselves in their own asses. EVERY SINGLE TIME. Like clockwork. All we have to do is simply set the conditions and step back and watch the suicide. The re runs are fabulous!

The JPP Putin lapdogs seem resentful about the comparison to similar fascist (R) politicians in America, either way.
