Rotting fruit, spoiled vegetables: How Texas just made the supply chain even worse

It is the same power California used to keep out the diseased carriers that trump tried to impose on them, and the same power we all wish Florida had used. The governor sets up a checkpoint just within the border, and can slow things down.

The alt right says it has been a success, but almost no one has been caught doing anything. That sounds like failure all over.

over the weekend I read an article where it was called 'enhanced safety inspections'................THAT is why governments at every level need to be severely limited................

That being said, I can see almost an entire forum full of lefties who would support these if it were an effort to stop gun 'trafficking'.................

So.........I guess y'all get the government you want and get to bitch about the government you hate while they laugh at you

There are many reasons to have to do enhanced safety inspections. The problem here is that Abbot is just doing it for political showmanship. We would endanger us all to take away reasonable government powers just because Abbot should not be governor.

If it were reasonable, then yes. But it probably would not be reasonable. It is important to remember that guns go the other direction, so it is conceivable that Mexicans will start to slow down trade in revenge for Abbot's actions.

A weeklong protest by Texas Gov. Greg Abbott against President Biden's recent immigration policy reached a resolution on Friday, but the gridlock it created has resulted in hundreds of millions of lost dollars and delays in shipments of everything from avocados to automobile parts that will have a longer-term impact.

Abbott's move, which Texas Agriculture Commissioner Sid Miller criticized as "political theater," ultimately created a logjam of trucks between the US and its largest goods trading partner. Vegetable producers say their produce is spoiling in idling trucks and they are losing hundreds of millions of dollars.

What used to be a routine border crossing turned into a 30-hour wait for some trucks. Meanwhile, the fruits and vegetables in those trucks spoiled, leaving some produce department shelves sparse or empty in advance of the holiday weekend, he said.
"It could take a week or longer, up to probably three weeks, before the supply chain realigns," Galeazzi said.

Fentanyl is more dangerous than guns to Americans.

Good luck with that!

Texas does not inspect trucks, its the job of the US Customs and Border service. You didn't know that, Einstein?

"The objective of the Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Service is to reduce commercial motor vehicle accidents through the enforcement of Motor Carrier Safety Regulations. This allows us to protect the state highways from unnecessary damage by securing compliance with state laws and regulating the weight of commercial vehicles. Additionally, our goal is to ensure equitable payment of commercial vehicle registration fees by enforcement of registration laws to protect the rights, privileges, and safety of the general public in the use of the public highway system, in order to secure compliance with traffic laws and regulations applicable to the operation of all vehicles. The basic mission or responsibility of the Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Service is weighing and checking commercial vehicle traffic operating over the public highways of this state so that compliance with the statutory provisions of law regulating weight, motor carrier safety, registration, transportation of persons, hazardous material and other property can be obtained. It has joint responsibility with the Highway Patrol Service to conduct Traffic and Criminal Law Enforcement primarily on rural highways."

Fentanyl is more dangerous that guns to Americans.

Actually, more deaths from guns than Fentanyl in the USA, but more deaths from opioids in general than guns. It is another one of those apples and oranges comparison.

And guns move from America to Mexico, so you are missing the point. There are many more deaths in Mexico from American guns than from American Fentanyl. There is no point in smuggling guns into the USA.
