When I was in school, teachers could not reveal their sexual preference without penalty of termination.
Nothing sexual needs to be discussed with children until at least 7th grade, maybe a higher grade.

There was a sissy kid in 5th grade. I stopped some other kids from kicking his ass. Idk what the deal was with the kid. He was from Alabama and black.
