Pleas:
- Approximately 165 individuals have pleaded guilty to a variety of federal charges, from misdemeanors to felony obstruction, many of whom will face incarceration at sentencing.
- Approximately 145 have pleaded guilty to misdemeanors. Twenty have pleaded guilty to felonies.
- Six of those who have pleaded guilty to felonies have pleaded to charges related to assaults on law enforcement. Four face statutory maximums of 20 years or more in prison as well as potential financial penalties. Two face statutory maximums of eight years in prison as well as potential financial penalties.
Sentencings:
- Approximately 70 federal defendants have had their cases adjudicated and received sentences for their criminal activity on Jan. 6. Thirty-one have been sentenced to periods of incarceration. Eighteen have been sentenced to a period of home detention, and the other defendants have been sentenced to probation with no term of incarceration.
Public Assistance:
- Citizens from around the country have provided invaluable assistance in identifying individuals in connection with the Jan. 6 attack. The FBI continues to seek the public’s help in identifying more than 350 individuals believed to have committed violent acts on the Capitol grounds, including over 250 who assaulted police officers.
- Additionally, the FBI currently has 16 videos of suspects wanted for violent assaults on federal officers and one video of two suspects wanted for assaults on members of the media on January 6th and is seeking the public’s help to identify them. Once you have "a huge smoking cannon" the investigation can continue, but at that point you arrest the folks holding the huge smoking cannon, there is no value in letting them go, no reason to try to "flip them" because you have them holding that "huge smoking cannon".
They don't let you go when you are found holding the "huge smoking cannon"... and it is stupid to pretend they do.

There has never been any doubt about the insurrection. Trump was involved in the planning and organizing with the help of many Repub politicians. However, gathering a case is a tedious process. They have to make sure that those who attacked the capitol and those who planned it, pay for what they were trying to do to America. I think they are gathering a very tight case against Trump and his band of thieves.

You are making a distinction between a nonviolent coup and a violent one. Both are against the law and against America. However, it was violent. The Trumps were happy to break the law.

Where there's smoke there's usually a fire. Maybe not as big as some would like or with enough evidence to prosecute, but it's there. Most people can agree that Putin and Trump have a close relationship. Trump loved dictators and hated NATO so it fits he and Putin would swap whores with each other.
Likewise, Hunter isn't a superstar yet he seems to have a lot of lucrative shady deals. I have no doubt there's a fire in there and I don't doubt that, if asked, Joe would admit he not only knew some of those deals were shady or unethical but counseled his son on them several times. Hunter is his son. What would most fathers do?
I strongly doubt that Joe Biden personally gained from Hunter's "career". If he did, then why doesn't he talk about or hint about Hunter as much as he does Beau? It's not just because of the CiC thing either. He was that way before Trump*.
