I love to see anything that Will Smith is in...but that action should not go without a consequence. I understand the police are saying that the "victim" is unwilling to file charges.

Agreed. The ultimate irony was him winning the Oscar a few minutes later. He apologized to everyone except Chris Rock.

TBH, I think there must be some background there but nothing justifies Smith's assault on Rock.

My opinion? It's an act. But I loved how Will's wife rolled her eyes. That wasn't an act.
 
I could never stomach Chris Rock, but Will Smith definitely lost his cool. from what I see on the YouTube video.
And Rock, whom I've never found to be the slightest bit funny, seems to have kept his.
Was that on live TV? I didn't watch the Oscars. I used to love cinema, but it's pretty much dead now.
