The argument by Putin that says he doesn't want a border with NATO makes no sense.

1. He already has a land and sea border with Turkey which is a long standing member of NATO. Kaliningrad has borders with both Lithuania and Poland

2. By invading Ukraine he then has borders with MORE NATO countries ( assuming he could subdue and hold Ukraine which will never happen).

The Russians didn't expect the ethnic Russians to resist them either. That is what comes when they start to believe their own propaganda.

One of the reasons they blocked off much of the news and internet information outlets. The Russian people are being sold a story about the Kremlin's "special military operation" saving ethnic Russians from "genocide" when they are really being murdered by Moscow's thermobaric bombs and phosphorus ordnance.
