Pope Francis decries “barbarianism” at the killing of children, defenseless civilians in Ukraine

VATICAN CITY — Pope Francis has decried the “barbarianism” of the killing of children and other defenseless civilians in Ukraine and pleaded for a stop to the attacks “before cities are reduced to cemeteries.”

In some of his strongest denunciations yet of the war in Ukraine, and in apparent reference to Russia, which invaded Ukraine on Feb. 24, the pontiff said that “there are no strategic reasons that hold up” in the face of such armed aggression.

It's a damn shame to see the Russian military targeting non-combatants and reducing towns and cities to rubble?!!

If Russia uses bio and chemical weapons on the Ukraine, the west should get involved militarily?!!

Moral authority carries a lot of weight in this world peacetime or war time.

Whether we agree with it or not, Pope Francis is one of the leading voices of moral authority in the world.

The end of Communism began first in Poland.

And it began in Poland, in large measure because of the moral authority of Pope John Paul II.

The Catholic Church has a large footprint in Ukraine. After the Orthodox church, it is the second largest denomination in Ukraine The Pope's voice is pretty important at this time, in my opinion.

Ukrainian neo-Nazis have been shelling the separatists in the Donbas for eight years. 14,000 people have been killed. Does anybody have a link to the Holy Father's condemnation of this shelling ?

Show any post of mine since Nov. 2016 forever "running cover" for Trump (that should be easy if true).
And show any post of mine calling Biden a war monger.

I do not subscribe to the post modernist philosophers that everything is relative and subjective.

I line up with Cicero and Augustine that the only acceptable reason for violence is self defense, and war by its nature is a sin.
