He got out of prison recently and living at a halfway house. I'm trying to cut him some slack but he's making it very difficult to do.

You might consider learning a little history before expounding on it. Your other assertion is also false. That the attack failed in its mission even to get to the Congress does not mean it wasn't a violent uprising against
the government. It was exactly that.

1-6 was Trump's shot at destroying the system for his own benefit. We should all be glad it did not work. Trump is still trying to do that. How close was Trump to his insurrection being successful? To many experts, real close. Those who were involved should get the book thrown at them. According to Woodward, Pence was waffling about following Trump's illegal and ignorant plan. He did not have the power to do what Trump demanded, but what if he just did it? He was asking around to see if he could find a way to justify it.
