It makes sense. They don't want to do anything which would cause the USA to change course. They don't trust us. The biggest thing they want is the USA out.

Which is code for Trump supporters. But Biden saw fit to bolt from Afghanistan with zero consideration for thousands of our citizens that are effectively trapped behind enemy lines. As I said in another thread, Pelosi would be holding her 5th impeachment hearing had Trump won in 2020 and allowed this to happen.

If we manage to get ourselves out of this without—any number of nightmare scenarios occurring, we will be very lucky.

A spokesman for the Department of Defense revealed that the Pentagon is aware of reports that Americans have been beaten in Afghanistan by Taliban terrorists.

This appears to contradict comments made by President Joe Biden earlier in the day.

Earlier on Friday, Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin told congressional lawmakers in a confidential call that U.S. citizens were assaulted in Kabul.

When asked about the reports of beatings and Austin’s comments, DOD press secretary John Kirby said: “We’re certainly mindful of these reports and they’re deeply troubling, and we have communicated to the Taliban that that’s absolutely unacceptable, that we want free passage through their checkpoints for documented Americans.”

I look forward to this killing to be over, to a day when we do not have such a presence in Afghanistan, where our heros are not there in harms way. I think getting out is HARD, and continues to be hard and it takes a very strong leader to do it. I hope Biden keeps down the path he is going. We lose even more than we already lost if we stay.

I envision a peace where there is no fighting, where people are able to discuss important issues without making things personal, so that real progress can be made.

The world has plenty of pressing issues that need to be addressed.

Fighting does not resolve them.

Respect, communication, brainstorming, ideas, trying things, willingness to adjust the approach, understanding, compassion, patience, courtesy, compromise will accomplish far more than greed, propaganda, hatred and White Grievance Culture.
