The better angels of the US's nature only manifested after the Civil War when slaves were freed and then more importantly, after WWII (which the US won thanks in large part to non-white non-Christians) when voting rights and civil rights were expanded and the territorial claims took their independence.

In fact, the US has been most evil when it has been most white. The best thing that will ever happen to this country will be white people slipping into the minority and being unceremoniously stripped of their unearned privilege and power.

I can barely remember what "compassionate conservatism" was supposed to mean again. Was that the when we declared war on the Middle East for two decades and accomplished nothing? Was that when the Republican party gutted financial regulations so that Wall Street could nearly collapse the entire global economy? Maybe it was when they agreed with Donald Trump that Mexicans are rapists and murderers and put all their stock in a wall that was never going to do anything and that was never built. It could have been when they marched in Charlottesville chanting racist missives and playing KKK. It's probably what it means for all of them to stumble around forums like this one calling everyone niggers and faggots. I think I've had my fill of "compassionate conservatism", but I won't give a shit what they do as long as they disappear.

I like to think of it as David and Goliath. In TX the Republican party is big and bad and does what it wants because no one can stop it. Democrats are wily and clever. I think they're going to lose this fight, but they are doing a fantastic job of showing the rest of the country exactly why the Republican party needs to be dismantled, melted, and the ground salted.

The Texans will go ahead with voter suppression techniques. This will not stop them. The reds are a smaller and smaller part of the American voting bloc so they will stop likely Dems from voting. They are doing it in over 25 states now.

We'll see how it all turns out. My guess is that the TX Democrats will lose this fight, but I'll be damned if they aren't doing a great job of showing the entire country why the Republican party is evil and has to be exterminated.
