If America is not a racist country, then why does Nimrata Randhawa go by Nikki Haley?

More LV426 lies. We were talking about for kids since someone posted she began using that name as a kid. However, since that name is on her birth certificate maybe that is why she used it.
You are the only one who suggested she was trying to trick voters by using that name. She wouldn't need to trick anybody unless you thought using the name was a disadvantage which is obviously racist.
You naively believe other Americans do not know some people are prejudiced and therefore think you have to keep telling us. We know! Drop your liberal guilt and move on.

And while we have no racism based on someone's name, no one expects he could change his skin color.

There are things we do because we are forced to do them. And there are things we do because it helps make other things possible.
If he had changed his name he would have enjoyed his childhood in America.

My family calls me by my Russian diminutive name at all times, but formally and as a professional I use my given name.
I do not begrudge her for abandoning her given name in formal public settings. Conservatives on this thread openly demonstrated they would mock her given name, and I am sure redneck southern kids would have been ten times more cruel.

Wow. I've not once commented on her name being difficult to pronounce or remember. Never said anything close. That dude freaking lies like there is no tomorrow.
I'm no psychologist but you know how some of the most homophobic people are either in the closet gay or may have gay tendencies? That's what this dude is like with racism. Everything and everyone else is racist but somehow he's immune.

A majority rule system exists in the USA and you know this very well as you try to sway the uninformed to help deceive the majority of Americans into giving up a hard won liberty to accept the dictates of the elitists you feel should tell us what we can or can't do.
If you don't like the way things are done in America, you can try to change things and the people should be reminded that your way never works and no country is as good or as free or as prosperous or as fair to all as America is.
Or, if you don't like the way things are done in America, you can leave.

I suggested one reason for using Nikki might be the difficulty for children to pronounce longer, unfamiliar names. I have a relative named Radon who goes by Beau because people can't remember Radon.
It is often an ideological issue for LV426. You notice he said the reason other Indians with difficult names could get elected without "tricking" the voters by changing their name was because they lived in liberal districts. The implication is that only conservatives are racist. He believes anything that suggests conservatives are bad and liberals are good.

In a prior life I did a bunch of work with Chinese investors buying property in California and specifically the Bay Area. What I learned is that a number of Chinese take American names when they are here. I never really thought much about it other than that's just what they did. It's why I laughed when someone earlier ITT said Haley had to go by Nikki because South Carolina was racist but she wouldn't have to in California because its diverse.
And yes, this is 100% about ideology, political partisanship and power.
I never said the U.S. was a racist country. Just pointing out all your examples of Indian American politicians are Democrats elected in liberal districts.

She checking off all the boxes of an Indian immigrant ditching her heritage for purposes of fitting into a conventional Southern American narrative -- i.e., abandoning the given name her parents picked for her, and ditching her native faith to convert to Christianity.
At least you are honest that a lot of conservatives expect immigrants to conform and ditch their heritage, or they risk being mocked and humiliated for their ethnic names.

Yes it does because the name "Nimrata" is not hard to pronounce. It's phonetic...you know what that means, right? Nikki is NOT phonetic, so Nikki should be harder for you to pronounce because of the silent letters.
Also, you can just ask the person how to pronounce their name...but that thought doesn't cross your mind because you think everyone should accommodate you.
What is an "American name"?
There's not really anything difficult about pronouncing anyone's name if you just ask them how to pronounce it.
