I don't take it seriously at all, because I understand the law will NEVER allow Texas to secede.

Sadly, many Texans are ignorant of the law and they believe Texas can secede anytime they like.

Maybe the Goldilocks Theory should be applied; California is too much and Texas seems to have come up short in an extremely hazardous and costly situation. Something in the middle might work better.

Agreed. It's silly. I don't understand why there are people even suggesting it.

Please put a number or percentage on "many Texans" because I've never heard this nonsense in public except from some asshole politician.

There are some valid legal challenges to argument. Maybe they want to take it to SCOTUS to see it settled, one way or another. I don't know. Seems like there are better things to work towards than proving a political point. Even if they are correct, what's the end game? Actually secede? WTF?

Secession does not require approval of the Supreme Court.

It's a legal ruling, not permission or "approval" much like the idea of whether a President can pardon himself.

Is it legal or not? It's an untested idea that can probably only be resolved in SCOTUS.
