so this man was brave.....he took on unarmed civilians then shot himself before he could take on the police.....yea a real hero.....he fled his own country rather than stand and fight....

i want my government....given their track record over the past 50 years.....to have a healthy respect for an armed popoulation.....

Exactly. I'm a non-violent person but I will defend myself if I need to and I do not want that right taken from me. As a single woman living alone - I want to be able to protect myself.

if there are those that want to take guns from law abiding citizens then yes they fear those people.....

why would you want an unarmed population.....

allowing the people to be armed shows trust....

the dems do not trust the people.....they do not trust them to spend their money correctly or to take care of the sick or injured or those that can not take care of themselves.....

It makes no odds to me whether you're armed or not as it's none of my business. I'm happy enough living in an unarmed nation but America is an entirely different proposition and i wouldn't seek to tell you what's good for you.

What i'm getting at is that from my perspective it doesn't look like the fact that you have an armed populace has made any difference in how your government regards and treats American citizens.

The original understanding of the Second Amendment wasn't an individual right or a collective one, but a civic right that guaranteed that citizens would be able to keep and bear only the arms needed to meet their legal obligation to participate in a well-regulated militia.
