Hawley Book Becomes Victim of Cancel Culture

This could not be more Orwellian," Hawley wrote. "I was representing my constituents, leading a debate on the Senate floor on voter integrity, which they have now decided to rebrand as sedition."

"Only approved speech can now be published," he added. "This is the Left looking to cancel everyone they don't approve of. I will fight this cancel culture with everything I have. We'll see you in court."

Simon & Schuster's decision comes as former Missouri Republican Sen. John Danforth, commenting in the wake of the assault on the Capitol, described his recruitment of Hawley to run for the U.S. Senate in 2018 as "the biggest mistake I've ever made in my life."

"I thought he was special. And I did my best to encourage people to support him," Danforth said Thursday.

The senator who represented Missouri for nearly two decades until 1995 said if it had not been for Hawley's key role in objecting to the Electoral College votes, Wednesday's chaos "wouldn't have happened."

"But for him the approval of the Electoral College votes would have been simply a formality," Danforth said. "He made it into something that it was a specific way to express the view that the election was stolen. He was responsible."

Hawley's office did not immediately respond to Danforth's charges, but in a more general statement, the senator said he would "never apologize for giving voice to the millions of Missourians and Americans who have concerns

You're a loser he's a loser

I think they don't want to publish his book for business reasons.

1. He's pretty much an American Nazi now who openly supports physical force to change election results.

2. Most of his supporters don't . . . read books . . . so who's the intended market?

more "incitement" charges because Hawley raised objection.
He wanted a commission not a riot. Trump wanted them to fight for the cause not riot
Yet the blame of "incitement is there without evidence to support thats what they said

Dear fucking idiot

That corporation decided this asshlole would lose them money by association

So they told him to fuck off

You are anti corporate

Fuck you very much

Just my opinion as I'm admittedly not a Hawley fan, he's no victim here and this goes far beyond cancer culture. He brought this upon himself. And he went to Stanford and Yale Law School, he knows that the first amendment is about government censorship of speech not a private publishing company no longer wanting to publish his book.

At Thanksgiving I was speaking with a guy whose father writes for the Hoover Institute. His Dad said Hawley was the guy to watch in '24 (not that we all didn't know he had Presidential aspirations). He tied himself 100% to Trump and now it has blown up on him.

such drivel. and no it'sot for business -where did you get the idea the book would not be successful

Obviously publisher houses and social media would object to the subject The Tyranny of Big Tech
because it shows the fascists for what they are- but that wasnt it.
Simon and Schuster are just more media fascist

yes I know about the first amendment -but it's beyond ironic
a book about big tech censorship gets censored.

what exactly was Hawleys sin? and why do you support cancel culture? (not a Hawley fan)

Do you know why Hawley raised the objection? it was to force a commission to look at electoral "irregularities"
certainly a worthy goal.. so what is the basis for your condemnation?

you imbecile
it's not about the money. even S&S said it wasn't

do you think publishing a book and paying the author is not about money? and about how their tarnished reputation for enriching a fucking traitor would hurt them down the road, even if they did not have a moral disgust at such a punk ass traitor bitch?

yep..............

I could be wrong, but I doubt he ran on the insurrectionist tix.. :whome:

Woe is me, hopefully he didn't already spend the money, he must be falling on hard times I bet..........

Oh yes, lets:

Lets judge them on their good intentions, wholesome intentions not on the actions that took place & the results.........

LETS ALL JUST STAND BY & STAND BACK:thinking:

Those chxns are coming home to roost, you'll be a busy apologist fighting the war that is already lost~GOOD LUCK

poor victim, but as trumpers say, elections have consequence's......... Perhaps murdoc or putin will publish it for him.....
WTF do you mean "elections have consequences"
Cancel culture is a Democratic ideal..I suppose that's true enough

No I do not support cancel culture at all but this isn't about cancel culture, it's about not wanting your brand tied to this guy (as I understand it).

To each his own of course but I've never liked Hawley. He saw his path to the Presidency as being Trump Part Deux so he's geared all his actions and rhetoric down that path. And now look at him, you have folks trying to kick him out of the Senate.

As I see it he's gotten himself in a lot of political trouble and is trying to play the victim to get out of it. (and I understand you probably feel very much otherwise, my comments above aren't personal at you)

Exactly, that is how capitalism works.

Funny how they don't mind charity work if it pays them well..........

his INTENTION is what is called a MOTIVE .
we DO NOT PUNISH PEOPLE WHO DO NOT HAVE MOTIVE TO CAUSE A CRIME FOR THE CRIME.
Even a civil penalty for someone who is innocent of a motive that causes a crime is unAmerican

this is basic american jurisprudence.. Cancel culture, and punishing Hawley for what he never intended to happen makes anyone punishable for any happenstance they never had motive to happen .it's totalitarianism
